Yeah.. parts, money, etc I wasn’t speaking on. Just seems those would be best landing sports for him as far as being able to compete and win soon
Why is that? Because Texans aren’t trading him or some other thoughts? Curious as to why you think this.
well yeah. But I took his post more as no way Watson would want to go. When I mentioned cap, I should have added draft capital as well.
Amazing how quickly Houston has become the most cursed sports city in America. I blame the Astros for this karma
If Watson actually gets traded, there are two obvious fits (NYJ and MIA) that not only have top 3 picks, but also have multiple 1s this year, extra picks in future years, and recent 1st rd QBs who could go back if Houston wanted. The Saints have the 28th pick. Even if Watson went to Houston and said "I want to go to New Orleans and won't go anywhere else," they wouldn't trade him for that.
Idk man, based on their recent trade history a couple picks and Latavious Murray will probably get it done
Mike Sando at The Athletic has the following offers for Watson: Jets NYJ gets - Watson, Cobb HOU gets - Darnold, 2021 1st rd (#2), 2021 3rd rd, 2022 1st rd, 2022 4th rd, 2023 1st rd Dolphins MIA gets - Watson, 2022 4th rd HOU gets - Tua, 2021 1st rd (#3), 2022 1st rd, 2023 2nd rd Falcons ATL gets - Watson HOU gets - 2021 1st rd (#4), 2021 2nd rd, 2022 1st rd, 2023 2nd rd Lions DET gets - Watson HOU gets - Stafford, 2021 1st rd (#7), 2022 1st rd, 2022 2nd rd 49ers SF gets - Watson HOU gets - Garoppolo, Bosa, 2021 1st rd (#12), 2022 2nd rd My main reactions are that these are seem decent options if they end up moving him, and also that I'm not sure why the Jets are seeming to give up a lot more than everyone else is in this exercise, which also kind of goes to show that if Watson is willing to go there the Jets would seem to be in the best spot to do something about it.
Jax offering a chance at Trevor and getting Deshaun has to make the most sense if Jax is willing to do it. Obviously I would love Watson to come home but not happening.
Main trade chip in that Miami deal is Houston's own pick. It's literally house money. They'd be insane to not make that trade.
Whichever options allows us to suck right now and get the most 1sts. That eliminates the SF and DET offers.
Jax trade the 1.1 and a little extra and use the cap to build around Watson and improve the D. If I’m Urban I’m pushing for this
Can't understand why he would think we would try to make a trade for Watson and not find a way to send Ryan to Houston with it. Yes, there would have to be some contract restructuring and whatnot, but it's hard to imagine we would be making this trade to have DW ride the bench or sit Ryan and his massive contract. And yes, I know it doesn't matter because it would never happen.
As a Detroit fan, even if I would do that deal, dumping Stafford into that situation after making him carry our franchise the last 12 years just seems cruel and inhumane.
I think it's assumed in that scenario that a) Houston wouldn't want Ryan at his age, and b) Atlanta would move Ryan elsewhere in a separate move.
If you have the 12th pick and are competing with teams who have top 3 picks + more overall picks to move both this year and in the future, how else can you bridge that gap? Also, those trades were completely made up by a writer throwing around ideas.
I get that, and yet at the same time would think the falcons would need to do something about Matt Ryan and his contract in such a trade scenario.
I can’t see him waiver that no trade clause to go to the Jets who lack talent around him and will now be giving up 3 first rounders to get him so they won’t be able to add much in the draft
Like already established at this level? Because Favre and Steve Young were traded. Warren Moon and Joe Montana were traded later in their careers.
I'd say established in their prime you'd have to go back a ways. Warren Moon would be closest in my lifetime that I can think of. Montana was at the end, Moon was old but still had a couple good years left in him.
Drew Bledsoe was traded when he was 29/30. Not on the same level, but it was not an insignificant trade. The Patriots had signed him to the first $100M contract in NFL history in March 2001.
I mean we all know how it turned out, but Jay Cutler was 25 and coming off a pro bowl when he was traded to Chicago.
Having said that I’m sure it’ll be a lot however they need him to waive his no trade clause for any deal to go down correct? So basically he dictates where he goes, which I could see him saying no to the Jets who is looking like the only one who can offer more
The last 15 months of what has transpired across the three franchises needs 30 for 30 treatment.
