Feeling really good about the segment I am currently in. Hit 220 miles last month and had some killer workouts, on pace for 265 this month and still nailing my workouts. If I dont go sub 3 on this upcoming marathon I am going to be pissed.

Yeah you’re probably right but I don’t enjoy those other workouts as much as I enjoy running plus being on my feet all day at work doesn’t help. I’m back up to running 3-4 times a week at 4 miles a pop. Seems like if I foam roll my calves it really helps with the PF pain.

The calves are the key to PF! Glad you are focusing on that, and Im with you, I hate all cardio besides running/basketball so it was very much a "Do as I say, not as I do" comment lol.

When I had PF, I got some support sock/sleeve things that keep your foot at a right angle and support the arch. Might have been placebo, but seemed to help.

What helped the most was just switching to the bike for cardio instead of running. I could go forever on the bike, no issues. A half mile on the treadmill would make it flare up again. After about 2-3 weeks I could run again and haven't had issues since.

Oh, and I threw in some heel cups when I knew I'd be on my feet (was on vacation when it flared up), which helped mitigate the pain as well.

I had it feeling really good by doing the same with biking, elliptical, swimming and then I think I went too hard back into running and it’s starting to flare up again. Had the issue for what seemed like years on my right foot, now it’s fine and my left is the one giving me problems.

I have some brand new ASICS running shoes. Size 10.5 they aren’t going to be “stylish” ones they were purely bought for running. I have like 5 pairs and want to get another pair of Nike running ones. If anyone runs in ASICS I’d be willing to do a straight up trade the 3 pairs for of Nikes or 150 for the 3 pairs. They are good shoes I just don’t want to wait 900 miles to get another pair of Nike running shoes. If anyone is interested I’ll pm them pics these are brand new in the box I haven’t even laced them up yet.

Two are dynaflytes 2 and one is the nimbus 18. The dynaflytes are about 60-80 a piece on ASICS so are the nimbus. Like I said they are brand new in the box I haven’t even tried them on yet since ASICS is generally all I run in and know my size. I’ll pm you pics of shoes and boxes of you’re interested.

Well...I’m wiped the fuck out. Currently in Key West and just ran the Key West 50-miler. Brutal fucking day. So hot. So humid. No shade anywhere on the course. Ran it with a longtime buddy of mine going back to middle school and we both got our asses handed to us at different points on the course. However, we both still managed top 15 finishes. We both thought we could do this in 10 hours or less but boy were we wrong. I suffered through some of the most agonizing leg cramps I’ve ever experienced just before the halfway mark and they didn’t stop completely until I was able to push into mile 30+. Cost me a good chunk of time. I’m talking I was close to straight up falling over from the pain. Multiple times. Somehow was able to get things balanced and get more salt in me to allow me to continue. Easily one of the hardest days of my life. But stoked I actually finished.

Some maniac set the 100 miler record today by over 20 minutes. Finished in 13 hours and about 20 minutes. Absolutely absurd pace for 100 miles, especially if you felt the conditions today in the afternoon. i have a high school buddy still currently at it in the 100 miler. Will be amazing if he finishes.

I've ignored running this year to focus on other things. Going away for over a week where I'll have no weights or the cardio equipment I typically use so running in intense heat will be in play, we'll see how it goes. Believe my short speed is a lot better but not optimistic that this will go well but ready to kick the shit out of myself.

Just ran the Peachtree course this morning. Came in one minute 30 seconds below my target time. Hoping adrenaline and race day competitiveness pushes me over the edge (and offsets horizontal weaving due to crowds).

It wasn't the Jack and Jill race, but it was the same course. Highly recommend. Its on gravel which takes away some of the net downhill benefit, and running through the pitch black tunnel for 2.5 miles is super weak, you lose all orientation of speed etc and your GPS doesn't work. But overall, its a fast course.

Ran my first 10k today, time was 64 minutes, which is way worse than I wanted/could’ve done. We’ve got heat advisories in Ohio this weekend and the heat sapped me about mile 2. I was on pace for my under an hour goal the 1st half, I fell apart the 2nd half.

Pretty cool race tho at Neil Armstrong’s birthplace on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Over 2,000 runners and 5 current and past astronauts were there, fun day.

Unofficially, I think the course was a little short.

Ran the most miles I ever had in one session today....8.3, my time was 83 minutes so nothing earth shattering. My fastest mile was the last one at 9:20 though, saw some cross country kids running and didn’t want to get embarrassed.

Now my question for my running brothers...do you think it would be foolish of me to sign up for a half August 25th? A friend of mine is running it and I thought about doing the qtr marathon but would really like to run the half with him. I’ve never ran a half, only ran 1 10k a couple weeks ago, is doing a half a bad idea?

Watched Iron Cowboy on Netflix, this dude did 50 ironmans, 50 days in a row, in 50 states, I want one now....

I would say “fuck it” and go for it man. Best way to find out is to put yourself out there and make it happen. Run your race and don’t worry about anyone else.

If you hit 8.3 just now at that pace, then I think working up to a 10 mile run within the next 2.5 weeks is doable. If you can do 10 in training then you can gut out the final 5k portion riding on adrenaline on race day.

That’s what I’m leaning towards, it’s a huge race and they have pace setters you can run with. Figure I can get with the 10:30 crew and go from there.
