    Thanks man!

My goal is 3:59:59. I really want a sub-4:00:00 marathon. Secondary goal if things go haywire is to set a PR, which would be sub-4:18:00ish. I feel great right now so I am just really hoping for no major injuries between now and race day + a solid 45-60 degree morning.

Definitely happy that it seems like I’ve gotten past the horrifically warm weather.

Nice. Will your marathon have any hills? If so do you do any hill training?

It will not. I am training on the exact path I'll be running, so I know it really well at this point. Only change in elevation are going under bridges where various streets in town are. Otherwise it's flat as hell.

I still agree with myself that virtual races suck.

I just ran a virtual race yesterday. It was hot and I got tired and slowed down and didn't care. Virtual races are not real

Yeah I bounced out of the others I committed to after the debacle of the first one I did participate in. I feel bad for the organizers but it’s just sucks, rather just run by myself for the time being

Got in 20 this morning including 8:11 and 7:51 for my last two miles. Pumped I had that much left in the tank and I’m hoping it’s preparing my body to go a little faster than ~9:00 miles when I run the marathon in five weeks.

I just lathered about a 1/2 cup of petroleum jelly on my thighs and ballsack and heading out for a 5 mile run. It’s 91 F with a 106 heat index.

So I ran my first virtual race today...and it reinforced my apathy towards virtual races. Still a good time (20:56 5k) on a track, and it gave me a good idea of how accurate my phone is (it said I ran 5.1 km.)

I thought “virtual” just meant go out and run and report that to the race organization. Is it something different? Did they tel you were to go run?

after a long heat wave, temperature dropped in Denver. High of 80 today. 76 tomorrow.

Ran 4 miles tonight and was at my best pace since Spring. :blessed: Trail running cross training paying off.

Need to replace my Altras. Think I'll stick with them but not sure what model I'll get.

6.3 miles today. Mentally strong run. I didn't walk - for the first time in a long time.

10 this morning. Currently 64°, but was a few degrees cooler during the run. Felt awesome. Now let’s go watch some Blue Raider football and eat and drink those calories back.

12.8 miles this morning. A very humbling experience. Long way to go if I ever want to be marathon ready again.

Had something weird happen at around mile 11. Looked down at watch and saw heart rate in the 150's which is good for me at that stage in a hot long run. Felt ok. A minute or two later I felt like my perceived effort just skyrocketed and really wanted to walk. Checked heart rate and it said 170 which freaked me out. I know the wrist heart rate readings sometimes get screwy. So I slowed to a walk and felt pretty dizzy. Just kept walking to see where my HR would go. Just walking I couldn't get my HR lower than about 125 so I walked and jogged a bit the rest of the way home.

Garmin data shows it actually spiked to 181. My max HR is 187.

I’ve had some beers, but I was saying that these past couple of days with awesome weather are an anomaly. There have been people that live in other states in this thread complaining about what would be considered a near perfect day in the south.

Ran 10 this morning finished in 1:07:41 - just at 6:46 miles - weather was perfect this morning in Atlanta. Ran some pretty flat parts on purpose. Also finally have a real race scheduled. Nov 1st - 10miler in Atl - pretty excited to have a live race on books and to look forward to. Going to try to break an 1hour

The two people I ran with (guy and girl) dropped me at about the 10k mark so it’s all about perspective. They went longer and finished at a faster min/mile pace.

Where in Atlanta are you running where you can find flat parts? Over here in Chamblee/Dunwoody my only flat option is finding a track.

The real issue comes from when you warm it up and you somehow do not feel the pain so much anymore, this is when you injure yourself for a while.

it was a good decision to not run.

Peloton is about 10x harder than running. I did it for only half an hour before tapping out and I was incapacitated for hours with a headache and swimming vision. Hopefully this teaches me to not stay up until 2am, thereby missing my early morning window to run to avoid >90 degree heat by 9am.

it’s just because your muscles are not used to do it. When I was in shape I had a routine of roller skating, jogging in a trail and riding the bycicle for fun. Did all three during a week almost all the time. And I play hockey in the winter. I always did a few muscles before, after and sometimes right in the middle.

it’s magical. If you stop every 10 minutes you jog and do as much pushups as you can you will go up a level pretty fast. It’s a serious grind at the start though, I won’t lie.

Absolutely my issue, 'cept adjusted temp for PNW wussie.
I keep staying up too late and choosing to sleep in. But at least I'm going for longer distances when I do drag my ass out.

I disagree. Running is harder than cycling imo. What makes Peloton appear more difficult is the fact that you really don’t rest especially with HIIT and Tabata rides.

I don't have a voice in my headphones telling me to run faster in sprints. I'd say Pelotonm or at least the class I attempted and failed at, is like involuntary fartleks. I also have been taking it relatively easy on runs during the summer, doing 9:30-10:30 mile pace. I don't know what that equals on bike cadence but woof. Maybe I'll get better at it with another stab soon.
