Also depends on what type of run, imo. Just some easy miles? I'm bundling up more. Speed workout? I can wear less. Race? Wear even less. When it was 39F in Utah at the start of a marathon I had short shorts, tank, gloves, and hat. Removed the gloves and hat after a couple miles. Plus it warmed up during the race to almost 60F.
Just went out for a couple quick miles at a sunny 43 with hat, gloves, merino base layer, sweatshirt and shorts. Prob could have skipped the sweatshirt. But I survived.
BTW whoever mentioned Tracksmith tights is prob dead on correct - their merino wool shirts are fucking amazing (just expensive as hell).
It was fucking 45 today in Phoenix when I ran. I’ve been waiting so long for this weather. I just ran harder to build up a sweat in my standard shirt and shorts, no extras. I also am feeling my shins lately, I think my shoes are needing a refresh.
When it comes to running outside, you cannot possibly have enough zippers. Investing in pants and tops that have zipper vents or deep chest zippers is important
Got my 5 mile time back down below 6:30/mi. Have a good friend who is trying to qualify for Boston. Definitely not aiming for that, but I am going to start stretching it out with him and see what I can do.
Damn dude, you’re fast. And here i was feeling good about my 49:17 10k yesterday at the Vulcan10k. Still feeling good about it though. Went in with a goal of sub 50min and beat that. Finished 101st and missed getting a top 100 tee shirt by 2sec.
Samsung galaxy buds. They have ambient noise mode so I can hear cars and other things around me while I listen to music
I’ve been running for a long time now but this peloton shit does not translate, it is so much harder.
I’ve always found running a more difficult workout but it helps my cycling. My cycling has never reall helped my running. Sadly it becomes easier to skip a run and just hop on a bike (indoor or out). Good thing is I do think indoor and out door cycling compliment each other.
I’ve got a deviated septum and get nose bleeds a lot. Tonight I was planning a six mile loop around the city and my nose basically exploded about two miles from my apartment. Just absolutely coursing blood, and of course I couldn’t get it to stop because my heart rate was so high. Had to use my shirt to sop it up, and eventually started getting cold so said fuck it and just ran back, doing my best to wipe it away with the shirt. It was an ugly scene. Ran down a bunch of alleys to avoid passing bars and restaurants and getting a suspicious persons call or something. The shirt looked like it had been used to stop a bullet wound by the time I got home. 4.1 miles, 6:29 pace unofficial due to the stoppage. Bloody shame..
Aftershokz since they leave your ears open to listen to surround noise, which helps with asshole bikers flying by or to hear someone passing, especially when I’m running with my dog.
Not really an interesting watch but will be interested in how this turns out... "Watch as Kilian Jornet steps down from the mountains where he’s considered the best trail runner in history and takes on the extraordinary challenge of running 24 hours on a track. The longest distance ever run in 24 hours is 303.56km back in 1997 tune in LIVE and watch Kilian gives it his all for 24 hours… flat out."
If anyone comes across good cold weather gear with a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal I’d appreciate it. Mainly looking for the vented windbreakers y’all were talking about recently. Thanks
I'm going to need something to look forward to keep myself going through the winter so starting a 12 week cycle for a half ending in February. Goal is to hit 1:35.
You will gain my respect if you accomplish that goal. I will then tell you “I am proud of you... son.” And then you’ll scream:
Heck yes I'm down. I could do this one Feb 21st. 11 weeks. Not sure yet what my goal would be... probably slower than you but I can shoot for a goal like under 8min/mile. 7:59/mile would be a 1:44 half. https://rungasparilla.com/
yes, I got a pair back in October. I've used them mostly for tempo or interval runs both on the road and the track. I have noticed, when wearing them for longer runs (over 10m), I get some discomfort in the arch of my left foot. that could be the nylon plate or because my left foot has a slightly different arch. I got them off of the Running Warehouse site. I'll buy another pair.
I was running a great pace on a 6 miler tonight and my watch just stopped registering my location like 4 miles in. I guess I am in the market for a replacement
In love with these shoes so far: https://runrepeat.com/new-balance-1400-v6 So light and they just feel like a glove for my feet. Flying in them.
50% off on Amazon for this color (I refuse to say colorway, what is this bullshit). Thinking of grabbing. Regarding how you speak of perfectly they fit, are your feet particularly archy or flat?
Completed a 12x400m workout yesterday w/ 400m recovery jog in between plus 1 warmup mile, 1 cooldown mile. 7.7 miles total. First time I've completed that workout since January 2019. I was faster back then but I'm regaining some of that speed and endurance. Felt great.

New Balance is my running shoe brand of choice. I’ve tried a bunch of the other brands, but have never found a pair that fit me better than these.
Who am I supposed to believe for distance/pace, Strava or my Apple Watch workout app? They never agree.
