For those unaware Tuohy also won the individual title at the XC championships, leading NCSU to a repeat team title
Gonna watch Drew Bosley run the mile tomorrow night and Elise Stearns in the 3K in her first race since December #TheMecca
I just finished a 15K training run. Furthest I’ve gone since I was 20 years old. My whole body is fatigued. I’m gonna crash really early tonight.
I now feel like Ricky Bobby with a knife in his leg trying to use another knife to pry out the first one.
My 2023 goal is to finish a 10K in under and hour. Practice has gone well. Personal best this morning. My next 10K is this Saturday. I just hope the distance is accurate. My last 10K was 6.42 miles and I wasn’t happy about that.
Drew Bosley wins the 5K at Big Sky championships with a 13:39.87 and Nico Young second at 13:43.70 Stanford's Devin Hart with a 13:29.31 at the Ken Shannon Invite Albuquerque will be sooo fun
NCAA Indoors this Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque Friday at 5:05 MT = women's 5K and 8:05 MT = men's 5K Saturday at 5:00 MT = women's 3K and 8:00 MT = men's 3K Tuohy should double up on the women's side but the men's should be really interesting Hoping the fact Drew Bosley is used to running at a couple thousand feet higher than Albuquerque gives him an edge ESPN+
Just registered for my first half marathon in about three weeks. Probably an unrealistic goal at this time for me is 2 hours, will be happy under 2:15. Longest run so far is 10 miles.
You’ll be fine. If you can run 10, you can run a half. Just take the first one like an easy run and make sure to hydrate.
You'll be fine, as DBH said. 2:15 should be no problem, sub 2 hours is definitely a worthy goal. Save some energy for the last 5k.
Anyone incorporated doubles into their training with success and have tips? I'm at about 100-110 miles per month right but would like to get to 150 (and maybe 200 eventually) and thinking this might be a way to do it. Would also love to know if this is a terrible idea.
Running first half marathon tomorrow. Haven't run in about two weeks, strained a tendon in my foot, has finally felt normal the past few days. Aiming for sub 2:15
I run 120+ miles a month and have hit 200+ twice before in the last few years (I'd do it more regularly if Florida wasn't so god damn hot & muggy), but I have never done doubles. I'm sure I could on my shorter-run days. I think you'd just have to listen to your body, and if you're doing 100+ a month you probably already know how to do that.
I tried doubles once or twice back when I was running a lot and wussed out during the night run when it felt like I was going to fuck up my calf. Have never tried again. Interesting option though. I'd thought I would never try doubles again unless I was ramping up mileage to more than 60 miles per week.
Did the Cooper River Bridge Run (10k) today without really training and finished right at 55 flat. Climbing the hill up that bridge and dealing with the wind was a bitch. Winner went 29:02 lol
Thanksgiving 5k, the course kind of starts, then goes around one block and down a long street, at about a mile it takes a turn, then kind of loops around and finishes back on this same street. Well anyway, I just started at the back of the pack, having a nice little jog getting out of the riff raff, and when I'm hitting that one mile mark about to turn, here comes this group of like three just booking it already about to finish
Can’t remember if I put it in here or not, but wife and I signed up for the Philly marathon in November.
had my 10K get postponed into July, which really wasn't too upset about. Gives me more time to ensure I run in the low 40s
Got a mile in the morning and I think I reignited/caused an injury from last Saturdays race. It’s the back of my right leg halfway down from my knee, and goes down to the back of my foot. Calf strain perhaps? I’m guess I just need to stop jogging for a few days and do some stretches? I didn’t feel a tear, pop, rip, etc. it just felt that as I was running that someone was putting rubber bands around my leg….got tighter and tighter. The 1 mile walk home was ok but I was really favoring the stride when stepping down on my right side.
I’ve had that feeling for going on two years and finally going to PT now. It’s actually my hip, but compensating for the hip creates pressure in my calf (among other things).
Have a half marathon this coming Saturday, supposed to be in the high 40's and raining. Did 123 miles this month, and have been keeping track since September thanks to this thread. 831 miles in the past 8 months. Hoping to stay on track, want to beat 1200 for the year.
been preparing for a half marathon. out of nowhere, blasted an 8:06 pace over a 9 mile run last saturday at the park where I normally hover around 8:30 per mile. So fun when you just have that perfect performance day
realized I have a trip for the weekend of the High Lonesome 100 this year, but if you get the chance, you should volunteer for an ultra race. those people are crazy. I will be crewing my friend doing like a 65 mile race in July
You're faster than me. I'll click off a steady 10 minute mile pace all day long, I just want to finish without stopping. Ran a 1:58 last time last fall. Good luck!
race is the third weekend of may. never done a big race before, will see how it goes. more bothered with the crowd of people than just running the 13 miles.
This will be my 3rd half, the crowds thin out pretty quick maybe within the first 1/2 mile. Start closer to the front than the time group that you think you'll run, and you'll have to fight through less people. Your pace will be quicker than you are plannimg for the first mile or two anyhow, adrenaline and all.
Half is in the books. 44° at start time, steady rain and a nice breeze. It had rained all night so the course was a soft wet muddy mess. Old rail bed trail, standing water everywhere. Finished ok all things considered, but I'm afraid to look too closely at my feet, lol.
1:31:05 for a new half PR. Was aiming for 1:30:00 but cut 1:15 off my previous PR and averaged sub-7:00 per mile.
