Terrible compared to last time. In December I ran a 14:06. Barely passed today with a 16:46 (17:00 is passing in my age group). My legs were frozen, chapped lips and nose was clogged. Could barely breathe.
sounds awful I hit my first 15:00 two mile on sunday. It felt like absolute death, not sure i'll ever hit 14:00. I ship to Benning next week and glad this cold snap hit now and hopefully will get some warmer weather the next few weeks.
You should be good. I went around the same time as you. Mornings were cold, some below freezing but that will be the least of your worries. Once it gets hot down there, you'll miss the cold.
Slowly receiving more light up north by the Canadian border. Treadmill running to suffice within the next few weeks hopefully
How is 2017 treating you so far, runners? I just finished running 7 days straight from Mon-Sun for only the second time ever while logging a one week high of 36.4 miles . Still working on building that mileage slowly. My legs sure do feel that accumulated fatigue. The hope is if I plan this right, when I do rest a bit prior to the Miami half marathon on Jan 29th, legs will feel awesome and I'll PR that bitch, regardless of weather conditions.
Haven't been able to run much - I've been having knee pain since I finished my half about a month ago. I have an appointment to get it looked at on Thursday; I'm looking forward to being told "well you probable just need to rest it! Here's some motrin." But at least it establishes a pattern for when it still hurts in February. I'm pretty sure it's runners knee cuz it only hurts with impacts - leg day it doesn't hurt much on the squat rack.
5 miles today. Slowly getting back into it after a long period of laziness. Trying to balance running with some lifting, swimming, and rock climbing this year. Feeling pretty good and getting stronger lifting while also increasing running mileage so its going really well so far.
I had a light week this week. I've been training 5-6 days a week the past two months and could feel the fatigue. I ran a total of 11 miles. I ran 3 in 25:30 on Friday. Then ran 2 in 15:30 yesterday. I ship to Fort Benning on Wednesday so hopefully I've done enough to where PT won't feel overwhelming.
I still have a few lingering effects of tendonitious. Fucking sucks, the only way to get better is to not run. This happened back in Oct.
Haven't ran in a week. Got some new work and it usually takes about a week to heal and you don't want to sweat too much on it. Should get back out there tomorrow morning.
Not IT band is it? I had IT band issue for a little while... outside of knee pain on impact. Foam rolling and a little rest fixed it up. Now I roll pretty regularly and the problem hasn't come back.
41 this week. Great tempo run on Thursday with an easier long run on Sunday to rest up for next weeks 18 miler.
Finishing up a shitty cold should be running again in a couple days. I haven't ran in 10 days and it has been driving me crazy. Been lifting 5 days a week in replacement, but not the same.
Did 3.5 in 30 tonight felt good to run after a week off. Carrying rhese extra pounds sucks ass. 180 is probably my best weight 175 would I assume be a little better being 8 pounds over at 188 makes me feel nasty as fuck.
On running days do you guys drink protein shakes afterwards or just replenish carbs? Getting conflicting info on the inter webs.
Tonight after my 7 mile bridge repeats run I ate 2 hot dogs and half a bag of spinach. I don't think these things out very well.
A McDonalds cheeseburger. Honestly I think you can go either way, I am hungry usually after I run, so I'll eat anything.
Patagonia Houdini jacket has been an amazing purchase for me. It's not the cheapest, but it's super light weight (like 3 oz), and shields from wind, rain, snow really well. I haven't tried running with it in heavy rain so not sure how it would hold up. I've seen it on sale before so see if you can find deals. I have used this jacket on hikes here in CO up at elevation and it does a great job keeping me warm with minimal layers despite wind.
Welp, officially have runner's knee and a couple other knee issues, per the doc. Physical therapy here I come!
4 two nights ago and 5 last night on the treadmill. Still way way worse than running outside but getting tolerable.
Ran 3 miles yesterday. First run since the half in October. I've been sick since then 3 different times. The run felt OK, but my body hurts today. So sore and tight. Kill me.
Finally getting over another damn cold and was able to run today. Nothing special. Mile, sprints, and some plyometrics. Big news is I finally found the shuffle function for iTunes on my Apple Watch.
Feeling really good about my half marathon prep. Did 10 miles in 1:28:04 yesterday morning. Race is the first weekend in March.
Play your playlist and while the song is playing do a force touch (hold for 3-5 seconds). Screen will pop up with options and shuffle is on it.
5 miles yesterday. Slow, the day after a night at the bar. 65 degrees in Cincinnati in January. WTF? Still, felt good to get over four miles for a change. It's time to start turning up the mileage a bit, but I've really enjoyed the gym so it may be a gradual increase while focussing more on strength during what is supposed to be winter.
18 at 7:28 this morning. Still 14 weeks out from my marathon so I am feeling pretty good about getting down to 7:05. When I was training for my marathon in November I essentially couldn't walk after one of these long runs, now I cant even tell I ran which feels great. Praying to stay injury free...
Too late I got one similar to this different color. It worked well. I was going to spend 120 on a Nike one but I found this for 20 at a Ross. I figure I'll use it maybe 5 times a year in SoCal I ran in it Friday and today both pretty heavy rain and about 50 each day. Unfortunately I didn't notice that it doesn't have a hood. I used a hat because I wear glasses and I like to see when I run.
Another 4 in the rain. The jacket keeps me dry but doesn't help with the wind. That sucked today it wasn't cold but the wind made it feel a lot colder. All in all I am happy with the purchase because I wouldn't have gone running these past 3 times without it
Not a lot of activity ITT so I will add I'd forgotten how much I love running in the rain. The absolute feeling of not caring about getting wet makes me feel like a kid. The "what the fuck is this dumbshit doing" looks I get are also great. I highly recommend it for you guys who are able to to go out in the rain.
