I just can’t imagine the time commitment. I put in 52 miles in August and it felt like a lot. Of course these guys are running faster than me.
5'11" and somehow I gained about 5 lbs over the last month, I'm at 170 lbs. Ideally I'll get around 160 by December.
Jeesh I’m probably our heaviest member at 205-210, I’m around 6 ft. I’d love to get down to 190 but my affinity for late night snacking is holding me back.
6’2” 190 here and yes running 17 miles sucked as much as I expected it to. Bring on the food, it’s game day bitches.
At 190 I can’t imagine the pounding my ankles and knees would take running that much. As it is I need to get down to about 180 which (imo) is my perfect running weight. Do you guys who run that much do other things or is running your only workouts?
I've been using Higdon's intermediate 2 for my Richmond half training. I really like it through the first two weeks. Thanks to Daniel Ocean for suggesting it. Did 3 today at pace and the heat/humidity almost killed me. I hate DC's summer storms.
I do CF 5-6 times a week. I know that I need to cut back on that but I've been making good progress with some things there so it's tough to do.
190 would be fine for anything under 13. Past that it does get pretty brutal on the joints. Considering that I’ve always had trouble gaining weight and this is the only marathon I ever plan to run, I’m doing yoga and lifting 4x per week to maintain right at 190 for life after the race.
I have weak ankles and knees. I used to lift a lot and was usually about 215. I would love to be about 170-175 but I find I need starve myself to get to 180 I don’t want to know what 170 would take.
I don’t mean to spam the thread but it’s for a good cause so if you haven’t I hope you see it in your hearts to donate. Every little bit counts. Thanks guys. I promise not to do this all the time. http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Heroes/Heroes?px=4942214&pg=personal&fr_id=87329
I had no idea how many miles I ran in Aug so I just looked it up on strava. I missed the 200KM challenge by 10K 118 miles that's gotta be my best month by far. Thanks for the motivation guys!
Did some interval runs today. Plan called for 6x400 but they felt real good so I did 2 more. I still hate the humidity more than anything. /end random thoughts
6 on treadmill today to get ready for race, 8 per with a minute in between so finished in 53 miutes with a gigantic pool of sweat. Anything around that on Sunday and I'm happy. Did twice the swim I have to do tonight in 86 degree water, it was miserable. No more races during cfb season though, gotta stay sober on Saturday and miss the night games.
Nation's triathalon, doing it in a relay and with special Olympics. My brother who has autism and I are doing swimming-running and another person is doing biking. 1.5k swim then 10k run. My brother actually kicks the shit out of me in running. There's like 15 special olympics teams, it's a real good turnout.
This is my first year as a partner and definitely trying to get into it more, more swimming than running though. There's a ton of events out west but don't know much else, know that Alcatraz is a big 1 and trying to do that at some point. Lady I know pretty much travels the globe promoting special Olympics open water swimming and involved with triathlons too, will let you know if/when I come across something.
Being that I am Black Irish I don’t know how to swim so I would love to do it but I don’t want to drown
in seattle for the week running here is so nice the weather the past few mornings has been low 50's gonna suck doing my long run back in nashville sunday
It’s been in the high 60s low 70s on my runs lately. It’s been really nice that I have been able to go running later in the afternoon.
pretty jealous, think its my fav city in the US conference is in Bellevue, so mostly around here, but I did Discovery Park yesterday, which is awesome iyam
1. It helps your body adapt faster to training because it puts your body in a glycogen deplated state. 2. Allows you to run more miles with more recovery. Running 8 and then 4 is supposedly better on your body than running 12.
Just getting into it. In June I started legit running again for the first time since probably HS (so 15 years'ish). Ran the Peachtree on 4th of July in 1 hour 14 minutes. Been working my way back into it, but I keep tweaking up my left calf and having to take some days off here and there. I'm lifting three times a week and running three times a week, so I'm not really losing much weight, but I'm definitely losing body fat. At this point I'm like 5'8'' and 165 lbs. I have another 10k coming up on 9/22. Have done a couple 5k's at this point as well and just finished one in under 30 minutes, which I was pretty happy with.
Triathalon cancelled for weather. Saw license plates from all over the country today for check-in, gonna be a lot of pissed off people. I can now drink today and watch football all night so I'm cool with it.
It stayed in the high 60s here. Woke up at 6:45 laid in bed till 7 trying to talk myself out of it did a quick 5 min stretch and was out the door water and banana in hand by 7:15. It really makes the day better when I get the run in early.
My calf has been bothering me for a few days, was gonna gut it out but quite pleased it was cancelled. Goal right now is a 6 minute mile.
14 easy miles this morning. Longest run since April. It is amazing how much better running on a cloudy day at 65 degrees feels than a sunny day at 85.
Pretty sure I’ve developed a stress fracture in my left foot. How long can I expect this healing process to take? I’m signed up for Marine Corps at the end of October. Is there any chance I miss that?
