Also, go to District Doughnuts while you're down there. One of my good friends is the head baker and they're incredible. The Caramel Apple Streusel and Brown Butter ones are my favorite.
Just got back, had some damn fine meals. Hit one Michelin starred and several off the newest bib gourmand list. Final tally was Roses Luxury, Sfoglina, Succotash, Jaleo, Oyamel, Timber Pizza, Cure, Barcelona, and Red Apron Butchery.
That's a hell of a list for 5 days. Also I walk through the Grand Hyatt every day to get to the metro. Look at me. Edit: I also went to Succotash for the first time recently and found it had one of the worst ambiance : quality of food ratios I've ever seen. One of the coolest restaurants I've been inside but the food was extremely meh.
Yeah I’d agree with that, the food was fine but nothing special, I was a little surprised it had gotten any Michelin love. Roses was great obviously, sfoglina was fantastic, timber was really really good.
Buddy of mine and his wife pulled the trigger on a house in Crystal City 2 weeks ago, and nearly pulled out because of mold in the basement. The seller actually agreed to cover the cost on the mold removal, and they'll close on 12/1. Talk about getting in right before the finish line.
It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that HQ2 was going to be in nova. And the news of the splitting it between nyc and dc obviously lessens the impact
It was fucking miserable on Friday. Took 4 hours to get to Richmond because of the rain+shutting down the DCA metro stop.
Sadly we just have "people" that think they can drive like assholes because it's not sticking and end up crashing and other assholes that don't think they need to put their lights on. Throw em all in jail /spending5hoursonhighwaystoday
everyone needs to go to Union Station and play Mario Kart VR. my god, it's amazing. DC is one of only 3 places in the world you can play it. the other two being Tokyo and London.
amazon and sports betting, pretty big changes to the area. Plus Redskins likely getting a new stadium
Well, fuck Dan Snyder and his stadium, but yes, I will enjoy legally gambling without leaving the borders of the boundary stones. Bigger deal is the renewable energy bill they passed today...
What could go wrong with mixing "mini bands" with people consuming large quantities of alcohol in a confined space?
I went to Tiki TNT last Friday and it was actually decent. Most of the wharf (outside of Anthem) is an abomination but I could maybe someday go again
Had one meeting in town today. Took me 12 minutes to get there from my house (AU Park). Love this town during holidays.
https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/...Abandoning-Dog-in-Northeast-DC-504110971.html this angers me greatly.
Just got home and roads were bad, have a feeling tomorrow is gonna be an absolute disaster. They're saying it's not gonna freeze but was already slipping on a few back roads, a couple degree drop and boom. I for one will be taking a 4 day weekend.
Just drove from Georgetown to eastern market and the roads weren’t bad. I also saw multiple ice trucks out so hopefully tomorrow isn’t that rough.
I'm sure some areas will be fine and DC is a couple degrees higher than where I am but the whole it's not gonna freeze when it's right at freezing with a ton of moisture is scary, especially this area.
Not closed Monday? I am private sector and we’re closed even though we never usually get government holidays off.
GF has to go to DC next weekend, so I'm coming along. I've never been, any good museums or things to go to with the shut down going on?
I've been wanting to go to the Burning Man exhibit at the Renwick Gallery (which is part of Smithsonian for those not familiar). The exhibit looks like it has some incredible art. The last day is tomorrow, so unless they open the Government tonight, I've missed it. I keep kicking myself because it's less than a block away from work, and I've been in town since September. I could've gone at lunch or spread it out over multiple lunches. And there were multiple weekends I could've gone. I would've paid, but it's free, so there was nothing keeping me from going. Now I've missed out. Despite my laziness, I place at least 51% of the blame on the federal government because it makes me feel better.
I've heard this and plan on going soon. Was actually planning on taking a date there after brunch last weekend, but the date fell through.
