Or keep his really good DC in place. Skeptical that we'll see a modern LSU offense or a competent QB there any time soon.
Aren't they likely to see a lot of kids from the offense go pro this season, namely Fournette and Dupree.
Something tells me that universities frown on adults taking off their shirts in the presence of kids post-Sandusky scandal. Will be interesting to see how well he recruits in the face of such limitations
Not sure I agree especially if that's the opening bid with Texas getting involved. But fair enough But I also don't think your fallback should be Orgeron at 3 million
Now that's loser talk if I've ever heard it. Top flight coaches are expensive, why is this a new idea to LSU?
I think it's an easy out for them though. You hire someone else and the leash is longer and if you want to make a move in a year or two you might not be able to do it.
Even some guys you could have gotten for similar money like say Fleck or Craig Bohl. Both of whom would have been much better options than O.
a guy that just finished fourth in the aac west is going to become the third highest paid coach in the country life comes at you fast, etc etc
This is the part I don't understand. You could hire O in two weeks. Conduct some interviews. Maybe there's a more impressive binder out there
You just saw how al golden and Charlie strong turned out and you want to pay top 5 money when you're already strapped for cash? I get being hesitant on that.
SEC leading the way for a golden age of meathead DCs at head coach. The rest of the nation will be playing catch up to this cutting edge evolution in the game
I do the other 99% of the time, but this is the second time in 12 months that LSU has fucked up their coaching situation and they went with a career position coach. They had to know the price would sky rocket as soon as Texas got involved. And that said, there were still other better options who they could have poached for the same, if maybe not less than they are paying O.
Maybe Herman was dead set on Texas. Agreed on waiting it out. They must've wanted the illusion of stability. Whatever that means. Seems like they kicked the can.
I would take a chance on a guy like Jeff Brohm or about 4 or 5 other non P5 coaches before I hired O.
other than Willis what talent did he have that he didn't bring in on his own? It's not like Cutcliffe was known for recruiting -- he rode Eli for 4 years and then went 4-7 and got fired as soon as Eli left.
But it would have been the most painful football watching experience ever and he would have lucked into 2 or more of those wins. While coach O was able to have multiple offensive school records set.
i havent been paying attention to the coaching carousel but after herman who were the better options than coach o
