I'm not sure that was an execution as much as it was a trigger slip because this asshole had his gun out while wrestling him on the ground. Why the fuck did he have his gun out?
"Video shows Patrick Lyoya running from the officer who stopped him for driving with a license plate that didn’t belong to the vehicle. They struggled in front of several homes while Lyoya’s passenger got out and watched. Winstrom said the fight over the Taser lasted about 90 seconds. In the final moments, the officer was on top of Lyoya, kneeling on his back at times to subdue him. “From my view of the video, Taser was deployed twice. Taser did not make contact,” Winstrom told reporters. “And Mr. Lyoya was shot in the head. However, that’s the only information that I have.” State police are investigating. Kent County’s chief medical examiner, Dr. Stephen Cohle, said he completed the autopsy but toxicology tests haven’t been finished. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she had spoken with the family." https://apnews.com/article/patrick-lyoya-killed-michigan-police-8bd07136ff62343a2f28349bbaae04e7
Clearly the cop is just trying to protect and serve people by executing them. Jeez the guy is just doing his job
It's the same as the Jacob Blake shooting. What's the worst thing that would happen if Blake had driven off? Well, what's the worst thing that would happen if Lyoya ran off? Place a warrant for his arrest and try to arrest him peacefully.
How is it that, in these scenarios, the officers somehow manage to always lose control of their taser? [asks rhetorically]
Stopped a guy for a license plate and then thinks he should give chase and be in a physical altercation. Training for cops must be awful. Ending qualified immunity would immediately fix shit like this bc the risk/reward for chasing someone over a plate is easy to determine.
Sounds like he had the taser OR maybe the other man grabbed it off him. Cop appears to have gone for his gone after thinking “oh fuck he can taser me and take my gun”.
I’m trying to wrap my head around why you chase a guy willingly leaving the car behind. You have the car and his name and information.
There is zero necessity to escalate the situation or to initiate a chase down in the first place. There is zero necessity to physically control a fleeing suspect for a mismatched plate on a car. It's not a felony stop, it's a this plate doesn't go on that car. Just fucking call it in and set your ego aside. Absolutely bonkers.
What? He pulled his gun out at the 5 second mark. It wasn't an accident. There's much linger videos of it. He just got tired of wresting with the victim so he shot him. That's it. He was never in fear of his life. The victims wasn't armed. The cop wax just tired of fucking with him so he shot him.
And why are they so deathly afraid of someone else having it but they don't think twice about using it on people?
Saw this last night. That’s murder. Even if the guy was resisting arrest and not listening there was no need to fire your weapon and even worse fatally kill someone.
I’m sure it’s intentional that the only way the public can talk about more safety is in dollars to police forces. We’re an incredibly lazy and reductive species.
Seems like he tried the taser and missed, or the guy got it from him. Sounds like he says "drop the taser" maybe? Then he pulls his gun and immediately shoots him. He wasn't holding his gun the whole time, he pulled it and immediately, intentionally used it. Needs to be in prison
Yep. 1. Dont run 2. Dont try and steal a taser from a cop Cop: 1. Dont fucking shoot people in the head when you could do 100 other things to resolve the situation
Yes, it certainly does as those dumb ass actions led to his murder. The cop didn’t just pull up and put a gun to his head as he was chilling in the car.
