Just picked up the Kel Tec KSG. Haven't fired it yet but it seems like the perfect home defense weapon. Picked up some minishells to go with it. Fits 20 shells.
God speed. I've shot one before. Wasn't a fan of it all. Very loud, considerable recoil, not smooth at all on the pump. Hopefully, for your sake, the one I shot was just shittily maintained or something.
Remington 870 for $299 if anyone needs a new shotgun http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/prod...ley&utm_campaign=20150814-remington870express
If you're looking for something on here just Google search 'the mainboard hunting thread' or whatever it is you're looking for. Doesn't have to be a thread title, even a phrase you remember from a post will usually work
Picking up a CZ 455 lux from my FFL tomorrow. Thanks Arkadin for the Nikon rimfire scope deal a few months back.
Orlando did a big "kicks for guns" event today. Was really surprised to get turned away when I showed up with my old Nke Shox.
CTD has had some really good deals lately. I got the Colt 6920 from them at a great price. Ordered a Holosun from Amazon because all of the reviews have been absurdly positive. Can report Holosun makes some awesome red dots. I would imagine they will only be cheap for a short time before they can charge more.
For carry? Not many reasons to go J Frame with a first revolver unless the idea is to pack it around.
Not as an EDC, as I've got much better options in that regard. I do want something carry-ish for backpacking in bear country, but a longer barrel really isn't practical... Otherwise, I'd be looking at something a little more fun.
I prefer a .460 S&W myself, but bears aren't exactly a worry here. I've come across them a few times, black bears no bigger than me really, they scurry off pretty quick without confrontation.
I know .357 isn't going to take down a grizzly or large brown bear. It's black bear, plus protection near trailheads I'm concerned about... & mostly the latter. I might not even bring firearm with me on the trail, but it seems to be the wife's preference... I'm using this as a green light to make another purchase & want a revolver. Was between the J-Frame & Ruger SP101, but open to suggestions. My experience is with semi-auto pistols, not revolvers.
Bear spray. If you are legitimately attacked by a bear a gun is not gonna stop you from dying and will do nothing but infuriate the bear. They have bear spray ($40-$60) that is essentially propelled pepper spray. It reaches 30-50 feet (I'm told, never had to use it) and is much more effective at saving hikers lives because it impairs the bear and gives hikers a chance to escape.
Yeah bears heart beat is also slow as fuck so a bullet, unless a head shot, isn't going to kill them until after they kill you
I've seen so many conflicting opinions. 45 and 40 will work closely range center mass or head shots. Plural. Agree with bear spray, but this is the firearms thread.
I agree with the bear spray as well & I'll have it on my pack... I just want to buy a fucking revolver
I was responding to the best option for bear protection. Have fun trying to hit a charging bear with a head shot, anything else and you're dead.
Not a fan of the SP101's, owned three. Too light, J Frame is the choice if weight is a concern. The GP100's are a more robust revolver if durability is a factor.
Don't know what I expected. http://mountainsurvival.com/news_articles/eaten.html Cliffs: bear attack story. Bear charges man from 50 yds out. Man fires 7mm rifle...hits bear 4 times. Bear falls. Still not dead. Man fires 6 more rounds to finish the job. Turns out the bear had eaten 2 hikers a few days earlier. Hikers had a. 38. Hit the bear 4 times. Bear spray.
Looking at picking up a Tikka T3 in either 30-06 or 308. Anyone have any experience with this gun? I've read nothing but good things about them but never spoken to anyone that actually has one.
yeah ive got the same. i dont need another one but i go to the psa website or go in the store and i almost do it
its like "oh i can buy half of a rifle for 300 bucks, and get the other half later? i mean... this sounds awesome" then im all "no you idiot, you dont need another rifle"
I mean if you let me crash on your couch for a weekend and take me to bars with hot NY girls, I'll hand deliver one to you.
