I don't understand these classifications and what's legal/illegal... this is not a short barrel rifle? http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...aign=Daily+Deal+Email&utm_content=12:00+Email
If I wanted to buy an entry-level rifle for medium- to long-range target shooting, where would I begin?
You can buy a Remington 700 w/ factory scope for $400. You'll most likely swap the glass at some point but there's no reason to get a cheap(er) rifle
It's not the coolest rifle you'll ever own but it's hard to beat a Ruger 10/22 for the cost:fun ratio. $210 gun, toss on an inexpensive scope or shoot irons at $0.05 per round all day while you're getting acclimated to gun ownership
To cain's point, Remington 700 is a staple of the military. Think Remington is running a rebate that will drop this down to just over $500 (308/7.62.) https://www.gunprodeals.com/product..._11_2017)&mc_cid=c1f6026237&mc_eid=2084e826d2 https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-700/model-700-vtr
It has an arm brace instead of a stock so its not considered a rifle. They have gone back and forth on if its actually legal to put the stock up to your shoulder when firing. I think you currently can shoulder the brace legally as long as its not been modified in any way.
Gotcha. So if I understand this correctly also, placing a vertical foregrip on that keymod rail would be illegal, but an angled foregrip is fine?
Yep. But if you would like to add to your confusion the 11.5" below is legal. Apparently the overall length is over 26" so its not a rifle but also not a pistol and legal. https://www.franklinarmory.com/collections/xo-series/products/bfs-equipped-franklin-armory-xo-26-r2
I wonder what the maximum angle is to be considered an angled fore grip before it turns into a vertical grip? 45 degrees? 89 degrees?
Arm braces look like buttstocks, but both look more functional than a buffer tube with a rubber pad on the end.
It's just really awkward to shoot and the barrels ring after each shot and the tone is at the level that will give you instant headache.
Also at the range today, the next two lanes had AR shooters. One was suppressed while the other was not. I couldn't believe the difference that SilencerCo suppressor made. I'll be purchasing my tax stamp shortly =/
Go ahead and order one in every caliber because you'll forget how much it all cost by the time the ATF approves your form 4
I know you're joking, but I pay $200 per suppressor, correct? The only threaded barrels I have are my AR and 22LR, so I'd assume I could just swap an AR suppressor back and forth as necessary.
Well yeah a stamp for each one. They should be readily available for noise pollution alone. And I'm not joking.

Also, snagged that pistol lower kit. Not sure what I'm going to do for the upper but probably 8.5" 5.56.

Back-up iron sites for ARs (pistol and rifle length,) is there a significant difference in all of them out there? Such a disparity in pricing, from $30 on up to nearly $200.
I've had bad experiences with them, but I also work with guys who swear by them and have no problems. On 2 separate instances, I've had their flip up sights break hitting the door frame on an entry. That was a fool me once, and then the replacement they sent me after I bitched. That one was intentional, as I was making sure it wasn't a random occurrence. It wasn't.
Link me the cheapest sights you'd run. Need two pair, one for a pistol build and the other to backup my red dot on the Vietnam AR.
Bought these as a quick fix after my magpuls broke. They turned out to be awesome, if you like angled sights, which I do, for CQB. Aukmont Plus Backup Iron Sights Tactical 45 Degree Offset Rapid Transition with Hexagon Wrench
Could likely do either, text me. Might bring a buddy. Will be a nice break from hanging curtains and pictures all day.
