You got a link for that? I’m sure plenty have been committed with filed off serials but I’m pretty skeptical about the 80% lowers being used in crimes.
I’m not refuting the numbers, but I know people in Nor Cal that would buy unmilled lowers and go to gun shows in Reno and look for fully automatic triggers and make their own guns. I guess what I’m getting at is that it happens more than you would think.
One is one too many. And my overall point is that if it's agreed that defiling serial numbers on guns should be illegal, trafficking guns with defiled serial numbers should be illegal, and owning a gun with a defiled serial number should be illegal (haven't seen any disagreement with those in this thread), then owning a gun without a serial number should also be illegal, as well as trafficking them.
So I think of this, and your quoted statement, as being right on par with bump stocks. IF an automatic firearm is illegal, a device that makes a semi-automatic fire in a manner that it is basically operating in full Auto, that device should be illegal as well. My disagreement is with the illegality of both points. Mandating a serial number eliminates the ability for an American citizen to create and build a firearm of his own design. That firearm would then not be legal by virtue of not having a stamped serial number. I also take umbrage with full Auto's being illegal as that is by definition an infringement on the right to bear arms. We clearly have to have an infringement inplace there somewhere. We can't have ordinary citizens running around with Nukes or even sidewinder missiles strapped on F21 raptors, etc. But where we draw that line is up for debate, and I feel we are currently resting on the wrong side of that line in a lot of areas. Suppression, Full Auto, Barrel Length, Etc. Logic went out the window on a good amount of these illegality stipulations.
If an American citizen has the capabilities to create and build a firearm then they almost certainly have the capabilities of adding a serial number onto it as well.
Sorry guys I can't hear this debate on account of being deaf because of the $200 tax stamp I refuse to pay for for the privilege of purchasing a suppressor.
So gun store by me is having a Sig day tomorrow, thinking of picking up a new AR if their prices are good. Which model Sig AR is worth buying?
APX sights were probably harder to remove than the dreaded Springfield XD's. Had to use a breaker bar on the Sight-Pro. Get your shit together Beretta.
We seem to have a slew of youtube personalities in the PNW. I haven't ran into Paul yet but I've ran into YankeeMarshall a bunch of times. Paul can be dry and long winded but he's worth a sub. Here's something about him many don't know. https://www.wallowa.com/news/harrel...cle_b148a9a9-2280-5ca8-968f-3e7a84fcdc1a.html
Whats the consensus on buying guns online? The gun I want is about $1600 at most of my local gun shops but it's ~$1370 online through several different websites. How much do shops usually charge for handling/receiving a gun ordered online? Think anywhere could price match or at least get close?
I like supporting my local shop, but I do it through using their range, and occasionally ammo and accessories. I use a small rural shop that charges $15 for an FFL transfer. The gun club up the street from my house charges $60. That’s probably your range. Not a chance, unfortunately.

Bought it My first AR-15. Teach me all the good shit to buy and what not to buy. I’m pretty happy with all the stock furniture. I also ordered a couple magpul pmags and the mbus sights. What are the good websites/forums?
The thing with AR’s these days is there are so many options and accessories and so many companies that jumped into the market when it was booming a few years ago. First you need to figure what the rifles main purpose will be. I have 2, 1 for coyote hunting and 1 for fun/self defense. Just try out lots of things and see what you like.
Picked up a Howa 1500 / HS Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor over the weekend at a Ducks Unlimited banquet... about time one of those paid off!
You can get some around $0.85-90 per round, but most of the good stuff is $1.30-60 ish, still not bad. Think I’m gunna dial her in at 300 and find some places to try getting into long range stuff.
