My local STI dealer, or Staccato as they're now called, has decided they need to be closed until the 5th. I find this to be unacceptable, especially when I have the desire to make impulse purchases. That new $300 Holosun Green Dot arrived today and now I need a gun to pair it with. All my other optic ready guns have something on them so I have no choice but to buy. Luckily for me Baltimore's STI dealer is awake at this hour and chatty, $4,300 (MAP pricing, wink wink) later and this is happening. Gonna be the best 4k ever spent.
If only the constitution differentiated between guns and muzzleloaders we wouldn’t have these questions.
So not only does Trijicon not have the circle dot reticle option, they don't even have a basic green dot option for handgun sights, just red. What a worthless company. They remind me a lot of Intel, absolute behemoth in the industry size wise but they can't innovate to save their life. Leuold is headed down the same path, thanks for the whopping one option on the DeltaPoint Pro. Nobody gives a shit about the astigmatism crowd.
Quick question. Figured you guys would be the best place to start. I am looking to purchase my first firearm, ideally a shotgun (Remington 870) for home defense. I live in New York and am a complete novice when it comes to this. I would appreciate any support. I have checked locally, but have had no luck.
I have looked online at every place that lists shotguns near me, called a bunch of places around, and no one has any Remingtons in stock. Yes. Am I missing something?
Anyone else have a Spartan (Athena) AR? Came across them online and seem decent priced and cool look. Mixed reviews online like most guns
If you've only tried standard gun shops try some sporting goods stores that carry guns, an 870 is a staple of most places like Big-5, Sportsman's Warehouse, Dick's, etc.
I’m looking for some 6.5 PRC cartridges. Anyone know of a place to check online and see if they are available. I haven’t found anything online or locally.
Not really a gun guy but just got an interesting one. I was just given a Tokarev SVT-40. My grandpa brought it back from WW2. Thing is in pretty good shape. I'm going to get it inspected and cleaned up to see if it can shoot.
CZ's are underrated. I'll never sell my TacSpor, Shadows are nice as well. I don't care for their poly line though.
Don't know why I love these so much but I do. Just added a second one recently, this time to the P30SK.
Any good recommendations on a scope/red dot for an AR? Seen a lot of ads for red dot / magnifier combos on Facebook but have no clue if they are junk. Sig Romeo 5 is one that seems popular
I couldn't bring myself to put anything called "Romeo" on my guns, I'm petty and shallow, but they appear to be of perfectly acceptable quality.
I just picked up the Holosun reflex for one of my AR’s. It’s flawless and about half as much as an EOTech.
Yeah, the Holosun is awesome for sure. I think I like it more than the Eotech because it's a bit smaller. Here's a link. You can get the red one for cheaper, but only losers shoot red red dots. https://holosun.com/index/product/detail/id/125.html
but seriously, the green is easier to see outdoors. People will try to tell you otherwise but the red can be hard to pick up in certain conditions.
Not that anyone cares. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/15/business/nra-bankruptcy-new-york-texas/index.html
I have a stainless steel Smith & Wesson model 59 and 357 I'd like to gussy up. Any website recommendations for grips?
As long as you don’t live in Ca, NY, NJ it’s legal to buy/sell/transit. What customs would you be going through?
Mammoth Ivory is a good stand-in if you can't find unicorn or fossilized velociraptor, but who would want to settle honestly?
Bugout suggested above is a good option. Check out the Ferrum Forge Stinger, Gent, Crux, Prolix, or Mini Archbishop. Each is under $100. The Ferrum Forges are the best bang for your buck. You get a well designed knife with solid materials, functionals well, thin/lightweight, and is incredibly fidgety to play with due to ball bearing pivots. Zero Tolerance 0450 is really good too, but costs a little more ($125ish).
I like knives and have an embarrassing number of them, but the Blur is a solid design. What does it lack?
Speaking of losers I need to get rid of one or two dozen knives. I've sold over 40 handguns in a matter of weeks and it feels pretty good! Also sold over 10 cases worth of ammo. I not only have space in the safes but that's 40+ things I no longer need to worry about or maintenance. I've rid myself of so much poly trash I'm down to 6 poly guns total. Still have way too much steel though.
Everything I listed has sold except 4 guns (Baer, Nighthawk, STI, Beretta). The Baer and Nighthawk haven't moved because I wont give those away like I was some other stuff. I could have gotten a lot more money selling on gunbroker or elsewhere on-line but I didn't want the hassle of shipping plus I figured the local crowd deserved discounts for putting up with my shit posting for over a decade. Couple people drove 6+ hours to get a gun, one did 12 hours (he knew he'd have to do two trips).
Any secret websites or places to buy ammo? I spent $500 this weekend on some and with the inflation, it didn’t amount to shit.
Gussy up? Check out Wade Oliver Wilson on the gram for some awesome custom engraving. Reasonable and will really gussy you up. He’s a good dude too
I need some 9mm.....I was a dumbass and bought 1k .223 rounds back in March thinking it would disappear due to pandemic panic buying. Figured I could get 9mm anytime for cheap. Fast forward and .223 was obtainable for relatively cheap (prior to the election) but 9mm is 3x more expensive if I can find it.
Unless you need it immediately, I’d just wait. Prices will go down in a couple of months when production catches up.
