i've been thinking expanding my hat collection to one of teams that no longer exists anymore. If you had no ties to either of the 3 cities, what hat would you go with: 1) Houston Oilers 2) Seattle SuperSonics 3) not wear either on the principal that someone will ask if you are from or a fan originally of those teams.
Oilers is sweet and I plan on getting some gear this year even though I hate the Titans. I have a few hats for teams I don't cheer for. Usually wear them out of season.
I like to use some of my adult money buying 90's NBA gear that I couldn't locate in central Nebraska before the internet existed. I've leaned into the Sonics a little and every time I wear their stuff I get compliments
Good feedback. I ordered the Sonics hat now so I can wear more immediately and save Oilers hat for a few months from now, because as a Chiefs fan I don't want to people to think i'm supporting the Titans.
Going back trying to find a post about cleaning hats with borax and now I’m curious if you’ve been to a winter league game in Puerto Rico? I leave tomorrow so trying to fit one in during the trip.
Nope. Heard good things. Their infrastructure has taken a beating, PR used to host world baseball classic games. Weirdly enough I am legit going to Havana in 3 weeks to see the Cuban Elite Series playoffs. Or hope to anyway.
A process that cleans ball caps better than anything I’ve tried a combination of cleaners/household products mixed in a bath tub with hot water, soak for a couple hours, rinse and voila
You're soaking the crown and bills and they are keeping their shape? Are any of those New Era fitted caps?
not sure if they ever fully disappeared but The Game is making their old hats again https://thegamecaps.com/ and yes they have the old tried and true
I’ve found that borax and oxyclean leaves residue, even with premixing and really thorough rinsing. Right now I’m at: Mild, dye free laundry detergent Squirt of Dawn Brush water and soap mixture all over with an infants hairbrush (very soft, enough to knock off anything) Soak 3-8h in tap cold, soapy water depending on what I’m up to that particular day upside down with enough weight to keep them under Rinse Hang dry, bill up using the front structure from our showerheads, which are kind of flat and round, approximately head-sized.
I take hats to young cancer patients here in Atlanta. A lot of shows that stunt people work on, give us stunt team hats when we wrap. Sometimes, the hats have been worn, so I have to clean them before taking them to the patients. Might have to try this method. I’ve been washing them one at a time (with some laundry) in one of those hat cage things that you can throw in a washing machine.
Am I alone in buying new era golfers and cutting off the rope? I generally like the structure and fit, but the rope is ass.
