No, whey just upsets her stomach. I have ON gold, so I wonder if a whey isolate could work? Otherwise, maybe a hemp protein?
wife and i use Nativas Naturals i also just eat a fuck-ton of hemp seeds. Put them on salads, in oatmeal, yogurt, etc.
i'm sure this has been asked before, but i'll go ahead and ask again. i'm going to be trying to give up carbs and refined sugars. any tips to knock cravings?
not going full keto. although i have thought about it. i'm trying to self diagnose some health issues i've had the past few months. i'm going to do an anti-inflammatory diet for a bit to see if that clears things up. my problem is, i'm an endurance athlete that has always just been able to eat whatever the fuck i want and not have any worries. i'm concerned about coming home bonked and just heading for the goodies.
If you are not going keto I mashed about a pound of carrots a night for 7-10 days. I don't really think you'll need help when you're coming off sugar though. You'll just want to eat anything.
I recently did whole30 which eliminates grains and sugar among other things. I was still able to eat fruits and vegetables. The first week sucked as I stuggled to find energy for 10 hours of pedaling but after that my body adjusted. If you are going to allow yourself fruits and vegetables, look into Pressed Kind bars and certain Larabars. They will give you some energy without allowing processed foods and sugar additives into the equation.
Gotcha. I have no tips other than stock celery, carrots, and throw away the stuff you're trying to avoid. Best of luck to you on your diet.
what do you take with you on your long rides? pressed kind and larabars? all of my go-tos are going to be tossed with this new diet.
i just assumed i'd have massive sugar cravings. you're right, maybe i won't. i've never had to cut it out of my diet. i know a few folks who have done this and failed miserably.
Have cut out diet soda from my diet. Once in a while I'll get a craving for it, perhaps once every couple weeks (drink mixes and water just aren't the same), so I'll just go buy a 20 oz. bottle and I'm good for a while.
I hadn't been doing it because of knee and back problems but I'm just telling myself to be less of a pussy and deal with it. Will still drive on days when I have to work a game because of all the equipment I have to haul or if it's bad weather, but every other day I intend to walk.
Yep, those and good old bananas. It took some getting used to but after a week I couldn't tell the difference anymore.
I'm sorry not implying that it's easy just that you will naturally reach out for something to fill that void. I personally hate all cooked carrots and might have ate about a pound a year prior. Just so happened that for some reason I gravitated that way and was saying your mind might work that way as well. I wasn't planning on it at all and didn't do any research, just wound up eating a pound of carrots at night. I really didnt make an effort to stop them either, just didn't have that craving anymore. BTW if you do research on this you'll see a bunch nutritionists and health professionals that say to not do what we are talking about because it still spikes your blood sugar. Fuck them, obviously long term yes, but I promise you won't want to eat another "pick your healthy alternative" for a solid month after a week. And if your getting away from refined sugars and potatoes or carrots are your vice, you're in much better shape IMO.
The blueberry rx bars are good. And peanut butter isn't bad. a.tramp is right, the rest are pretty awful. Sorry - should have clarified that when I recommended those to you
he's skinny now that he lost all that weight and his cup size is laughable now. not worth your time pretty good excuse off the cuff
I have continued to let myself go for another 6 days. it's great. 2 workouts a week the last 2 weeks. ice cream every afternoon in the office. cookies, brownies, doughnuts, and shit that our clients are sending us. pizza at least once a week at night. April 19 will wake up and be done with it. But goddamn is being fat enjoyable.
hit with the #healthtime bug today. went to the grocery store and dropped 200 on all kinds of stuff. lots of chicken breasts, ground turkey, rice (brown and a couple zatarains mixes), cereal, frozen hash and fruit, greek yogurt and lots of canned shit. reasonably healthy sweet tooth solution: fat free greek, frozen berries/peaches/grapes, agave syrup. stir that shit for a while until it's ike ice cream. bringing back the super health OG recipe from 3noles when healthy eating first came up in the lifting thread years ago: 99% lean ground turkey and zatarains dirty rice mix. incredibly easy to whip up for a weeks worth of meals and it's pretty damn good.
Is any of the weight you dropped on whole30 coming back? Did you go back to a normal diet or still implementing some of the whole30 practices?
Still implementing some, being sensible about the grain and dairy I am eating. Down an additional 5 lbs.
I go through this cycle of extreme health and then extreme eating and laziness for 27 years now. It's great to eat whatever I want, but it makes me feel god awful, so back at it tomorrow morning.
Pro-biotics, raw apple cider vinegar, BCAA, and L-Glutamine. Protein absorption and digestion on fleek. If fleek still okay to say? The gym added one of those Synegy 360 set-ups and I can't stay away from it.
read up a little bit and it has a good percentage of the good stuff (98% / 500mg) and no random crap. and $15 for 4 months worth. Just take one each day with breakfast. pro tip I learned the hard way: don't dare take it on an empty stomach. I got the full body vomit sweats and salivating for a good 30 minutes one morning because I took it before leaving for work when we were having breakfast catered.
mine is pretty much November-December + March-April. Enough damage gets done in those 4 months to make the other 8 months necessary to stay in shape. I did better this year than the last 3 I've been out here. apartment gym got renovated and they put one of these in the middle. I like it a lot for the pullup station, boxing heavy bag, and the little infinity rope climb deal. But I guess it doesn't come with many cable attachments and they threw away the old attachments from the standard crossover cable setup they had before this. No tricep ropes or V-handle. No handlebar for curls/extensions. Just standard ass handles. probably end up just being a morning cardio place
Last question. How strictly did you follow it? Wife and I are thinking of Whole30 or Paleo, but I bought passes to a beer festival for early May so I know I'll cheat then.
Ours has two seperate cable stations, and are close enough to do some bomb lat pulldowns from a knelling position.
probably best to get the low sodium option of this. it makes about 4 servings for $1.50. depending on how much meat you want in it - 1 or 2 lbs of 99% lean ground turkey. Macros are super duper. w/2lbs: 435cal/4 fat/44 carb/57 brotein if you need extra flavor just toss in some hot sauce, cholula or squeeze a half a lime on there
I do ground turkey (cooked with fresh minced garlic and shallots) mixed with roasted sweet potatoes and choice of green veggie (broccoli or brussels most often) almost every week. One batch usually gets me 2-3 meals. Will add avocado and/or some kind of acid to keep it from being dry. Also key to always season the turkey liberally before cooking. Very versatile option because I can go any way I really want to with seasonings and what other veggies I have lying around
I did a roasted balsamic chicken and vegetables for the week after being inspired by TLAU and OopsPowSurprise
This is wisdom. I have discovered based on little time to truly prep a lot of very flavorful healthy meals things like siracha and other assorted sauces are a god send. I am currently snacking on some ground chicken (preferred in my house over turkey) brown rice, broiled carrots and broccoli with a small amount of a healthier version orange sauce that has the taste of Chinese takeout. I have to go easy on the sauce but if done right can make or break your meal prep IMO.
