Have you tried increasing your water intake? That works for some people, but for others they pretty much wake up at night to piss and then want a snack. I usually get in 150 ounces a day minimum and start to slow down after dinner. I am pretty much 18/6 or 16/8 depending on the wife's schedule.

I just wake up to pee. I'd end up snacking and then skip breakfast to make up those calories. It wasnt as bad calorie wise once started snacking on just fruit.

Have you tried eating more calories in the 8 hour window?

Not really. I just eat until I'm full. Its probably more boredom or being creature of habit who always snacked.

Yea if it’s a mental thing, it’s beatable. Or you can try stretching out the eating window to 10 or 12 hours.

I’ve lost twenty pounds these past few months by counting calories (~1,600/day) and cutting out as much sugar as I could. That usually means skipping breakfast but I’m still drinking coffee with sweetener and creamer every morning. La Croix helps with the soda cravings. We started Every Plate three nights a week instead of eating out. I think I’ve hit a plateau though and am going to start working out to hopefully lose another twenty in the next couple of months. I looked into intermittent fasting but late dinners are a fact of life for me due to my wife’s work schedule.

Nothing else to add really. Just haven’t told anyone besides my wife and felt like sharing. Hopefully I can keep it up when football season hits and I’m drinking more. Oh and I feel so much better already. It’s crazy how much weight impacted my mood and energy level.

Nice job! I am the same as in you late dinners. Clients for work and the wife's schedule kind of make this part of my life as well. However, if you are already skipping breakfast you are well on your way. Start off 18/6 or 16/8 or so to acclimate. True to form they say to have only coffee black and just water however I don't think that's going to make/break you if you're only having a cup or two a day. If you are drinking like 32 ounces to a pot in the morning I'd say to try to temper that down, but more so to decrease caffeine intake. I try to stick to IF 4 days a week or so, ranging from 18-24 hours in length.

You’d still see benefits from 12/12 which would allow for lunch and late dinner. Gotta cut out the creamer/sweetener though

Yeah I'm gonna have to cut out creamer if I want to make my goal. It adds from 200-300 calories (two in the morning, one in the evening) depending on the day and also accounts for most of the remaining sugar. Can't stand black coffee so I might just switch to water only.

I've always wanted to meal prep breakfast burritos and finally got around to doing it, damn it's the shit. Dozen eggs, bout 3/4 of a small carton of egg whites, pound of turkey sausage, and a little pepper jack (probably unnecessary). Makes 10 or burritos so wife and I have breakfast for the week. I could stand to do more whites, less eggs to make em a bit healthier but wife doesn't like em too white-y.

Prior breakfast was usually a protein shake and a bowl of Kashi which I could do worse but prefer some real food.

Start exercising more and you can keep your creamer. Weight is the result of calories in less calories out. So if you’re expending more you need to take more in to maintain that weight.

Probably just gonna do both (exercise and cut creamer) and eventually get back to around 2,000 calories a day once I lose another 20. :idk:

Took me a bit to enjoy black coffee but also experimented with some different types. I pretty much only liked it from one place specifically and bought it every day. Now cream/sugar makes me want to vomit.

I don’t have to be a scientist to know the more processed our foods got the fatter we got.

the American diet is garbage. With that said I try to meal prep and do well 80% of the time, but the other 20% I go way overboard and eat the worst shit and a lot of it

Big fan of those diets. I don’t think the majority of America can handle the “nothing off limits, but just in moderation” mindset.

Over the last couple years I’d been eating pretty good, doing regular body weight exercises (lots of pull-ups and dips), walking as much as possible, and trying to cut back on sugar and carbs. I dropped from 210-220 to about 185-190, which was my sophomore weight in high school. My only vice right now is alcohol, which I try to cut but yo-yo, could definitely stand to take off some weeks.

Since August, I started paddling everyday in addition to all the above and holy shit! Weighed in at 179 this morning, which I don’t think I’ve hit since the 8th grade. I’m not even sure that’s a healthy level for me, but I feel pretty good. My chest/shoulders/back look bigger and more cut than they ever did lifting, and I’m whipping out pull-up sets like they’re nothing. Just kind of a bizarre outcome. I never thought I had that much fat to lose.

Thinking about joining a canoe club, would do an hr 1-3x/week. Tried it out as a guest on wed morning and it was pretty fun. Didn’t get a burn from the rowing but it def worked my cardio.

Yeah I normally do a similar route near that same spot solo on the SUP. It’s a pretty good way to watch the sunrise, knock out some exercise, and kill a podcast or two. One of our neighbors has been on us to try the canoe club, so I’m giving it a shot in effort to be more social.

I tried a one-man outrigger the other weekend and want one sooooooo bad.

I am in favor of pretty much anything that will lead to people attempting to be healthier, but one recent trend I can't get past is the cauliflower as a carb replacement trend. Cauliflower pizza crust, mac and cheese, etc.

It's not terrible tasting, but why would you not rather eat something equally healthy that actually tastes good for what it is, rather than a mediocre impression of something else?

Had a nice, manageable swell come through the last week. Finally decided to stop being such a pussy, put down the SUP, and break out the surfboards that were still in their packaging in the garage. Spent 2 days on the water.

God damn that’s such a good workout. Caught like 1/2 a wave but still had a blast eating shit all day. Rib cage feels like someone used it for a punching bag. Can’t wait to get back out there.

I’ve taken one lesson, about a year ago, from a group that’s really good about pushing you to take as many waves as possible. Was out for 2-3 hrs and don’t think my sternum felt right for a month. LadyPokes and I would fall asleep screaming at each other, “Don’t touch me! Get your hand off my chest you fucking asshole!”

Flipped the switch on this in 2020: We had our first kid in 2019, I’ve always lifted heavy weights 3-4 days a week for the last ten years. No one would’ve called me fat but I’m 6’2 240ish, after the baby I deflated hard. My weight crashed to 220 but I was pretty much fat, I was drinking a lot and eating too much delivery food due to the whole kid thing.

Right after Christmas we decided to make changes as a family, no more delivery food. We started doing the beach body workouts at home at night after the kid went to sleep. We finished about 30 days in row of 21 day fix during which time I also did two a days of heavy lifting twice a week. I gained 11 LBs back but lost 4 inches on my waist. My wife lost 8lbs.

Started the 80 day obsession program on Monday, wrapped up with starting the meal plan. We spent 6 hrs prepping food on Sunday but neither of us swayed from the plan this week so far. I also decided to give up drinking for the next 35 days until we go to wedding in Florida. Through 5 days I’m down 7 lbs, literally look like a different human being from November. My energy is way the f up, I’m sleeping great, and my work output has probably doubled.

healthy living is hard a f, but the results are getting addicting.

I’m 32, dad bod is out for 2020
