I feel like TMB is one of the few places on the web where reasonableness and disagreement can coexist. Also, I once got crushed on here for a perceived bad take and still have PTSD.
Maybe. DM me some nudes and if you look anything remotely like Ms. Duff, I’ll consider it. Just don’t expect me to start a thread about you.
I wasn't thinking of myself when I posted that fwiw. Sometimes people here are being reasonable and genuine but because so many people loudly disagree with them and make jokes at their expense it feels excessive. We're quite good at piling on to shut up the chuds but sometimes we misuse our talents. This has been my meta analysis of tmb within the Hillary Duff thread. Thank you
I once had Lyrtch and a few other posters make me out to be the devil when I bought a single family home (oversimplification) only to find out he also owns a home. Then he asked if he could crash at my place for a wedding he was attending in the Bay Area. True story.
Months back when CA passed SB 4 (maybe 5) allowing all single family plots to be utilized as multi-families. I thought it was a bad idea in terms of creating more housing in affluent neighborhoods. You called me a neoliberal something or other.
I called you a nimby because you thought single family zoning was how it should stay and upzoning was bad. It's the explicit definition of a NIMBY.
Dudes lying about their arguments with you to paint themselves as victims of your heinous attacks is a tmb tradition as old as time
::sigh:: That wasn’t my take. I’d expound on that but I really don’t want to take this thread any further off the rails
I don’t think anyone here wants to see that, but I could be wrong. show of hands please-who would like to see Lyrtch and I hash out an almost year old argument, here in this thread?
Just when I thought this thread couldn't be any more pertaining to my interest - we get a California NIMBY argument going somehow....
Hater? I’m actually a fan of your posts and probably share a lot of the same ideologies. But that you interpreted my comments as nimby, just illustrates what we’re talking about with people getting shouted down without much dialogue. Iirc, I argued the bill was a bad idea because it wouldn’t produce any additional housing units in affluent neighborhoods. Instead, homeowners in those communities would use the new rule to build ADUs in their yards, not to rent to lower income individuals, but to expand their square footage beyond existing limits and ultimately enrich themselves when they sold their homes. My issue was never with what the bill was intended to do. I just didn’t think it would be effective at reaching its stated goal and would in fact result in the concentration of greater wealth by current landowners without creating an overall benefit to communities in need of more housing. Nimby? Far from it brother. Up until last month we literally shared our yard with our neighbor so that they could put up a batting cage for a youth baseball organization they run. I mean ffs, I genuinely meant it when I said you could crash here if you needed to. Does that sound like a nimby thing to do?
this is all your opinion without evidence fwiw and is explicitly what nimby's argue about upzoning but again, i respect the duff too much, just tag me somewhere else if you actually want to do this
I guess I'll Google search it but am I the only person on this board that has no idea what "nimby" stands for?
Do what man? Share an opinion about a situation I personally find myself in, so that I can get shouted down and called names? No thanks. If you were interested in discussing the bill, results since it’s enactment (probably too early for any real data on that) or alternatives, that I’d be into.
