I've been listening to this series of podcasts today to avoid local sports talk radio, pretty good stuff, currently on episode 4 and hope to finish it all before trying to see the new Halloween during lunch tomorrow:
Just finished Maniac. While not horror I really like it. I'm still confused as to what happened but it was a fun watch.
Yep, and when she wakes you up at night all scared, you get to comfort her. Then you move to the sex thing to make her forget about the scary stuff God I am a genius
Spoiler Just finished Hill House. As stated before, Episode 6 is fantastic. The slow building of tension combined with the typical "pop out" moments of Nelly in the background had me on the edge of my seat for the entire hour. I think at one point I yelled, "I am so tired of this fucking house!"
I still remember watching it for the first time, wondering where in the fuck Michael was going to make his appearance. Boy did I feel cheated and or stupid.
Would be incredible to show that to someone that hadn’t seen the original before taking them to the new one to completely fuck up their expectations.
Two episodes into Hill House, and it is just shot unbelievably well. It’s just a really incredibly well made.
watched episode one of HoHH. Did Theo make an appearance as a child? I only noticed the older brother, one older sister, and Nell and Luke.

Just got out of noon showing sir and thought it was really good. I had pretty high expectations due to the strong critics and audience ratings on rotten tomatoes and i certainly came away satisfied. And i also got pretty lucky with the crowd in there despite the early matinee, lots of folks talking to the screen and reacting loudly multiple times. That said, for the rest of you interested in seeing it, the sooner you can see it the better due to likelihood of a more crowded theater. In addition, if you know of certain parts of town or theaters where certain folks may more likely talk to screen, that wouldn't hurt either (like don't see it at an iPic or the trendy theater in the nice part of town). And in case you can't fit in the original tonight, they do a pretty good job of explaining some of the key background details; clearly some of the writing was targeted for a younger audience and the assumption that some of that crowd may not have seen the original. And on that note, i didn't know until the opening credits that Danny McBride was one of the three credited writers, as well as one of the executive producers.
Spoiler it reminded me a lot of the shining. Also that scene where she is in the upper corner of the room was terrifying. One night in my old house I saw this black thing sitting in the top corner of the room, but I couldn’t really tell if it was just a shadow because the lights were off and it just looked darker than the white walls. It was up there for a while so finally I turned on the lights. It was a giant black scorpion. Like the biggest I’d ever seen. I screamed like a little girl. Swatted it down with a broom and unleashed hell on it with my shoes. That scene triggered the hell out of me. Now I keep looking behind me at the corner expecting to see that damn scorpion every five minutes.
Not going to lie, being in a haunted house, I'm a bit scared to watch HoHH at night. I started yesterday watching an episode a day when I come home for lunch. Will get some watched during the day time this weekend.
lol how much time you got buddy? Nothing crazy. I'm sure someone on the board will hop on to ridicule me though.
Kinda want to try this service. Mine is 100 years old and looks like it would make a great haunted house. https://www.diedinhouse.com/
Getting high af and watching horror movies is legit one of the greatest things in life. Being able to hit a pen in the theater is such a game changer.
I'll see if I can remember all of them. Like I said, nothing crazy from my first-hand experience, but definitely some shit that is abnormal. One of my former housemates swore on his life he saw a ghost and he moved out within a month and refused to ever go back to the house again. None of my other former housemates have reported seeing a ghost but several of them are convinced the house is haunted as well. I did learn some history about the house recently that I had never conveyed before. It's a Civil War era house that was used as a hospital during the war, allegedly. Other places on campus have been confirmed as being the site of Civil War stuff like hospitals, troop housing, etc. We had students involved in the war, Appomattox is only a half hour away, and obviously Virginia saw the bulk of the war so it wouldn't be surprising if it had served as a hospital, especially when the house right beside this one was confirmed to have served as a Civil War hospital. I have no way of knowing if the school and local historian was feeding me a bunch of BS or not though. Anyways, first story. I was home alone at the time. The one or two housemates were out of town for the weekend. It was the weekend, so nobody from the school's physical plant would have been coming in here for anything. I was awoken by the sound of someone walking down the hallway outside my door. Loud footsteps, like they were wearing boots or heels or something along those lines. Sprung up to look around in case someone had broken in because I knew the housemates were all going to be gone. There was no sight of anyone to be found. Have also heard the same thing but what sounds like someone walking up and down the stairs. Second story. The bedroom above mine was unoccupied at the time. Sitting here doing shit on the internet and all of a sudden I hear this loud noise from above that sounded like someone was moving a very heavy object across the floor. Say like a bedroom, a dresser, a desk, etc. I go up there to check it out and the door was locked. All the bedrooms are deadbolt locked so the only way to get in would have been to pick the lock or break in through the windows, and since this was an upstairs bedroom, they would have had to get a ladder to get up to the second floor. I peak under the door and there isn't a single thing on the floor, not a single piece of school provided furniture, no boxes, nothing. Go back to my room, I hear the same sound a few more times throughout the night. Third story. Bedroom beside me, also unoccupied at the time and locked. I keep hearing these odd noises coming from there. Sounded a lot like a bird. Pretty loud too, a lot louder than what you would hear if the bird was sitting just outside the window, for example. I try to get in there to check it out because we have had birds get in the house before. Couldn't get in there because it's locked. Call up the campus police to unlock it so I can get the bird out. Open it and neither the police nor I see a single thing in there other than dust and dead bugs. Policeman says this isn't the first time he's had reports of unexplainable noises like this coming from the house. Few days later, I hear what sounds like something falling or being dropped onto the floor over and over throughout the day for like a week. Loud enough that it would have had to have been a loud object or if small, something that is quite dense. Check under the door and once again nothing that would explain the noise I was hearing. Last story I can remember. I'm here home alone, no one else even living in the house at the time. It's either on a night or the weekend so once again not like any physical plant staff would be here. All the bedrooms locked shut because I had just moved in and I was checking to see if I could stash some shit in them while I got my room all organized. I was a 10-month employee at the time and went back home for the two months I wasn't employed to save money. All of a sudden I hear one of the deadbolted bedroom doors upstairs slam shut. Very loud, a lot louder than what it would be if the door just closed on it's own or someone pushed on the door just hard enough for it to shut all the way. It was like what you would expect to hear if someone slammed the door shut as hard as they could. I went to check and all the doors were locked. Look under the doors and no sight of anyone or anything in any of them. Only other door up there would have been the bathroom door but it was wide open and the trash can was in front of it to keep it propped open.
yeah I'd be a little nervous about watching scary movies at your house too. Obviously doesn't sound like it's trying to hurt you but that would be freaky as fuck to experience.
One of the examples of “ghosts” was literally a bird. A bird that mysteriously disappeared....like it wasn’t on the ground or ANYTHING
Well where did the bird go then wise guy? Both the police and I could hear it in there when he opened the door, then it just stopped as soon as the door was opened. There weren't any windows open so it couldn't have just exited the bedroom through the windows. Unless it just disappeared into thin air there was no physical bird in there making that noise.
Yeah I don't particularly enjoy being in this house alone at night. I'd have moved out already but the school provides the house. I'll have to start paying the rent on November 1 with my "promotion" but I'll still stick here because you can't beat $350 a month for a bedroom, private bathroom, my own refrigerator, internet, cable TV, and utilities. Only thing shared is the common spaces like hallways, kitchen, and laundry room.
You got me. There's no possibility that a bird, a small animal gifted with the (supernatural?) power of flight could have squeezed in a small opening in a ceiling/roof/etc and then exited. I know there's no possibility of that happening because it's NEVER happened in any other home ever. The ONLY possibility is that a bird died with unfinished business in that room that it must attend to before it can pass on to bird heaven. Miraculously in this case, it seems to have achieved its goal and exited this plane of existence and moved on just as you entered the room. Because we all know birds would never flee when hearing humans approaching. They literally never do that.
I've never had a paranormal experience and am somewhat skeptical but my friend told me this story and I 100% believe him. He's not one to lie about shit like this. Anyways, this happened to him and his family in high school when they were living in Indonesia in a house provided for U.S. diplomats. His dad works for the U.S. foreign service. One morning he wakes up after having a nightmare of an old Indonesian woman in traditional dress screaming at him in a foreign tongue. He said he was freaked out a little but thought it's just a dream and went downstairs for breakfast with his family. He's eating breakfast and mentions that he had a crazy dream about the Indonesian native screaming at him. His Dad and Mom both look at him funny and then his Mom mentions that she had the exact same dream, too. Ok, kinda freaky, but hey people can have the same or at least similar dreams, right? Some more time passes without incident until one night the family is watching TV in the den when their dog, Arnold, starts barking like crazy. Arnold runs upstairs into one of the bedrooms and apparently is just barking and going nuts staring into a blank part of the wall. He said Arnold was about a foot away from the wall with all his hair puffed out growling at "something". Ok that's weird, still no proof of a ghost though right? Fast forward a few days later and again theyre all watching TV in the family den area. Arnold, apparently starts going crazy again, except this time they hear doors closing from upstairs. They immediately go up there and find that all the doors to their bedroom have been shut and are locked. The crazy thing is they don't even have a key to unlock the doors. They all have to sleep that night huddled in the den area on the couches. The next morning they had to call someone from the embassy to unlock the doors. Welp, I'd be freaking out about now but apparently they just kept pretending like it was no big deal. I mean what could you do? The next incident happened when his brother was up late watching TV. He said he saw a woman apparition appear and just walk through a wall. He ran into my friend's bedroom and was like 'yo, i just saw a lady walk through the wall, can I stay in your room, tonight?" They were around 18 and 16 years old at the time It all ended when one night when the Dad had a dream where the Indonesian woman appeared and instead of her yelling, he yelled at her to get out of the house. They never had any more issues after that. But there was a house next door to them where no one lived. They said they'd see lights come on and off over there every so often. I'm a big skeptic but if I was forced to sleep on a couch with my family because our bedrooms doors slammed shut and locked themselves I would nope the fuck out of there with the quickness.
Guy, I know Santa Claus isn’t real. I know this....BUT.... I live in a house on the NORTH side of my street near a light POLE. Nearby, there used to be an old Christmas tree farm. In fact, my property used to be part of the farm. So, there used to be Christmas trees growing where I’m typing this now. Anyway, each Christmas, I buy all my kids’ presents and put them under the tree and they think they’re from Santa. No big deal, right. Well, check this...EVERY year there is always at least 1 present for me that is under the tree that I have NO IDEA how it got there. My wife and kids say it’s not from them. So, explain to me who else it could be from!
