Have already watched Hell House LLC once this Halloween cycle but think i am going to finish off the season with it again.
Think we're gonna finally watch X tonight. Watched Halloweed Ends last night, so we need to watch something actually worth a shit.
X was fantastic, as expected. I know Pearl isn't supposed to be as good, but we'll probably watch that tomorrow. Want to watch Black Phone this week too.
Pearl is a little more unique than X as it's basically a weird character study. I liked X more for it's tone and commentary, but really enjoyed both. Should def watch if you liked X
X was easily my favourite horror movie of the year. Smile, Black Phone, and Barbarian all promised a lot but didn't really deliver. And Scream and Halloween were just crap.
Smile was so bad I just went home halfway in. Dialogue was stilted, the "dropping a glass because she's startled" happened so quickly back to back the screen writer felt the need to throw a lamp-shading comment into the movie, and the entity didn't follow the in-universe rules established in the first act. Just bad.
My concerns about Terrifier 2's runtime were justified. Way too long and could barely pay attention at the end even though I watched in 2 sittings.
Watched Barbarian. Wasn't what I expected. The first half was definitely better than the second in my opinion. But overall really liked it.
Brought out some of my faves for Halloween viewing this year: Cabin in the Woods Evil Dead (2013) Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) The Thing (1982) Hellraiser 2: Hellbound
Speaking of Long he did an interview with my buddy on his podcast, he's a genuinely nice dude. Tim is a friend so be kind.
Been a big Justin Long fan ever since Jeepers Creepers. Thought he was awesome in Barbarian (for the wrong reasons lol).
Barbarian is a really well constructed, tense first act. In the end of the second to third act it takes a hard right into schlock. It all depends on how much you enjoy that jarring shift.
Not sure where this goes but Angelo Badalamenti died last night. He did most of the soundtracks for David Lynch films/series among others
ah shit that sucks. I love the sound of those soundtracks. Gonna go listen to some Twin Peaks soundtrack
It’s a sequel to the 2013 one, which according to Rami and Bubba Ho-Tep is more aligned with their original vision for the very first Evil Dead.
