Watched it today...good horror stuff with some unique twists. Very Wait Until Dark feel to it. What I liked: Spoiler No inclination that it's a horror movie until the friend shows up on her porch halfway through the process of being murdered. Love that the killer is just like "fuck it" and takes off his mask after 15 minutes. Very little exposition about the killer (which I always love) and it seems to point that Little Man Syndrome plays a role in his deciding to be a serial killer. Also, THANK GOD for a horror movie finally using modern technology and using it as a plot point. Finally a killer who realizes that an iPhone is the 2nd most dangerous thing to spoiling his plans behind a gun.
Was it really that hyped up? I was somewhat excited to watch it and just did and I'd say it exceeded my expectations.
Yeah, it got a lot of hype on the indie circuit. So much so that it managed to get a wide release. It's good though, just not great. There are a couple images from it that are going to stay with me for a while. That's for sure.
That was the original trailer released a while ago with nothing at all about the Blair Witch. New trailer released tonight.
My Blair Witch review: Ok...I enjoyed the movie, but obviously...it paled in comparison. It worked for what it chose to be...I just disagree with what they chose it to be. Of course, this movie can't simply replicate what made BWP so incredible (the slow burn of the impending doom, your sympathetic views towards these people losing their hope along with their minds). The simplicity of the original is thrown out the window and the speed at which things pop off in this movie is incredible. Other things: Spoiler Unlike the first movie, the events that are occurring are 100% supernatural. It doesn't feel real at all. It's like they stumbled into the Blair Witch's evil woods funhouse rather than a group of people getting lost in the woods. Also, there were a couple of dumb horror tropes in this I didn't like. "I'm going to get firewood, but for some reason I'm doing it a million miles away from camp out of earshot." It's the fucking woods. There's wood literally everywhere. Also, while it only lasts for one scene, there is a moment when the STUPIDLY SIMPLE FORMULA TO DEFEAT THE EVIL arises. Extra spoiler Spoiler The Blair Witch IS in this movie
I watched Deathgasm........funny, gorey and a New Zealand homage to Raimi. It's Evil Dead meets death metal.
I kind of the like the movie. Just a weird vibe to it and I enjoyed it. Reminds me of my feelings of Night of the Comet
Yeah, it wasn't the best movie in the same way the Titanic sinking wasn't the best vacation. It still holds a special place in my heart though because I remember the first time I watched it as a kid and had a true "Okay I'm young and dumb but surely this shit doesn't make sense to adults either." Anyhow, Jordan Peele of Key & Peele has a horror movie coming out in February. Filmed in Fairhope, AL apparently. Big fan of his comedy but not sure what to make of this film. As UA412 and I were discussing, the trailer seems to give a lot away.
Night of the Comet is 80s personified. The little sister and her cheerleader outfit and hair. The tomboy big sister. The mall shopping scene. Love that damn film.
Season of the Witch is great in an awesomely bad way and my favorite to watch of the series. Not sure if it's been mentioned in here before but recently watched Housebound and really enjoyed it
that poster is for Halloween III: Season of the Witch not that Nicholas Cage garbage that came out a few years ago
My mom took me to see Return of the Living Dead when I was 7. Been a staple of my Halloween horror viewing every year.
Watched The Forest last night. Fell Asleep. . Watched the VVitch 2 weeks ago. . .Fell asleep. Green Room. . . Fell asleep. I'm not a narcolept, horror flix just suck all the cocks these days.
