They will have a season 5. Generally they release in April but given Covid I think we won’t see this released till later in 2021
It’s been pretty popular on Netflix. It was a AMC or Bravo show for two seasons. Then got picked up from Netflix and gained in popularity. They got the season 5 green light months ago so we’re getting at least one more season.
not sure if you're aware. but the show is based on a series of books and the show is adapted (somewhat loosely, from what i understand) to two books each season https://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/fantasy/2020-09-08/the-last-kingdom-books-order/
Just started this show tonight. 2 episodes in so far and enjoying it, though kind of annoyed at Uhtred having 0 loyalty to anyone except himself.
This bump is coincidental af. I was watching some English history videos on YouTube earlier today that were covering this time period. Just decided to start a rewatch and am currently on episode 2
the alfred and uhtred relationship was fabulous, and losing that def hurt the show edward is a little weasel and aelswith sucks too i did like stygtrigger or whatever his name is that was the viking "villain" from the last half of last season
Killing Uhtred’s uncle and replacing him with his little cousin doesn’t look promising either. Wouldn’t mind recasting that role.
Agreed. Going to start a rewatch of the last season. We are getting this upcoming season and a movie. They are currently filming the movie. Curious if we get a clear end of the storyline or what direction they go with the movie.
christ. i am confident i made it through all of s4 and i remember some of the things mentioned here (uhtred giving away the kingdom to alfred's daughter brida vowing to kill uhtred)... that was like seeing an entirely new summary guess i am starting with season 4 tonight and hoping to make it through s5 by the end of the weekend.
season 4 has such terrible pacing. there are a few episodes of non-stop conflict and action and then a few episodes of nothing where the boy king does not carry scenes - or give any weight to silence - like alfred
what do people think of the season? i'm about halfway through and here are my thoughts Spoiler - brida's face painting clan was so dumb. everything about it - the yelling, the customs with sacrifice, the way they were able to escape after the fight - was all so bad and tough to watch. - another season, another time where uhtred's requests are thwarted by those who he's helped countless times. i still have to see how the show develops but i wished he would have joined his daughter/the danes when offered. - despite those frustrations, i think the first part of season 5 is way better than season 4. there's still a lot of rushing around but the plot with the queen's death + knowledge of it was good and there feels like more time to talk and listen. king edward is way better in this season than last season as a character IMO. - brida with father pyrlig is the best use of her since her time with uhtred. i can't stand her with armies but i like her in those 1-on-1 situations, i guess - super sad about osfrerth. the entire fight made no sense where he is killed and then uhtred's warriors are allowed to mourn and bury him. - haestan is one of the best characters on the show. big glow up for him both in actual season 5 presentation and also character from the earliest scenes with him.
Might be my favorite show of the last few years. Thought s5 was tremendous (with the usual caveats re: the up and down pacing) It's hard as fuck to keep track of the bloodlines, though
Nvm, I finished it Spoiler Didn’t think 9-10 were as good as rest of the season. Glad it had a feel good ending though. Knew everything in the montage but who was the kid Hild was hiding, feel like I should know this Uhtred’s dad is also Tom from Succession
