All I’ve seen is the movie that’s going to cover the newest 3 books that came out after the original series. It’s a standalone movie but it will have some new characters and some from the series but I don’t think there’s been any leaks about who it will be.
I just finished. That was awesome. They did a nice job of wrapping it up although I would have liked a little more. One question, I know Osbert is Uhtred’s son, but I completely forgot how he wound up at the convent and whether Uhtred knows he exists. Anyone?
pretty sure his hot second wife died giving birth to him and then alfred had the infant + the other two young kids taken into the church the infant was referenced but i don't think ever shown on the show
When Uhtred wife died giving birth to Osbert he asked her to take him and protect him. I believe it he didn’t want him to be taken into the church either and was sent away. Uhtred speaks of Osbert in EP 4 iirc of this season so he’s aware. He also speaks about him in the convent when he’s looking for help.
Season 5 really picks up in EP 3 and I thought the season was great. I’m glad Uhtred was given the love and praise from King Edward only to tell him to fuck off. The little montage of Uhtred journey as he looked into the sea really was a nice recap of his unreal journey.
I thought the season was great and a perfect culmination of the series. Sure there's pacing issues, but at least there's not Littlefinger helicopter travel and the characters for the most part have depth and rarely stray from who they are/were without returning to their roots. I enjoyed so many of the characters and thought the show did an amazing job handling so many characters. Looking forward to the movie!
Got to admit that Edwards role was better acted. Season did a good job of killing off characters that no one cared about and had run out of plot (but not you Osferth). Thought we were in for a rough ride after the first two episodes, but it really picked up with Athelhelm’s scheming. I actually liked Aleswith this season. She did a good job of with the Alfred’s call backs and she had some funny moments which are sparsely needed in a show this grim. I AM UHTRED, SON OF UHTRED
I enjoyed it but kinda underwhelmed too. Aethelstan becoming such a bitch then could have done the big battle scene better.
i must've rewatched this series 50x. does the movie have a sufficient ending? i'm nervous it's gonna leave it in a shit ass cliffhanger that never ends up coming to fruition
What is it about the GOAT Alfred having idiotic descendants? Only one worth a shit was Aethelflaed. Enjoyed how they closed up the story. Spoiler rly glad they didn't kill finan or sihtric, but Aldhelm getting got was upsetting
Turns out a bloodline-based political system isn't the best. Also a lot of these people's history is re-written to make Fictional Uhtred the hero.
Holy shit the pacing of the movie was at breakneck speed. It's a solid viewing but nothing special, not sure I loved the ending either. Might give it another watch but thinking I was cool with how the show ended as the final story being told.
Started a rewatch and i'm up to S3. Alfred is such a great character. Forgot how much i enjoyed this character, despite constantly mistrusting Uhtred
He was the ethical foundation of the show right, wrong, or indifferent. He carried so much gravitas in every scene. The show suffered a lot in his absence.
just started season 2 and I can't stop laughing at how many women this Uhtred son of Uhtred plows through
well I blasted through this thing finishing up last night, great show will watch again, gonna let things digest for a week or so before checking out the movie and reading the thread
