Just got announced. I'll put the trailer in here soon
Chills during the trailer when Joel walks in.
I haven't seen one without crowd noise
I love it with the crowd noise.
And hell yea they kept Ellie and Joel together. Just an amazing reveal.
It was definitely an awesome mic drop for the keynote.
This is why Playstation is better.
Gave me goosebumps
Sweet fucking jesus yes.
Ellie is the main PC this game according to Druckman.
So obviously we have to speculate what she's talking about. Is she hunting Fireflies? I assume it's not referring to hunting every last infected. Or just a new group that caused some.bad blood in the years since TLOU.
God I can't wait.
The logo leads us to believe it's the fireflies. But we all know it's not that straight forward.
That lie Joel told is definitely gonna come up for sure.
Ashley Johnson has said on pretty much any panel they've done that Ellie knows Joel's full of shit, so it's gonna be an interesting dynamic for sure.
Rumor is that
Spoiler: Game's plot
Joel is dead and Ellie is hallucinating. He enters the scene through an all white glowing "paradise-like" door. He is there to confirm (in Ellie's head) the reason as to why she is on a killing spree (because someone/the fireflies killed Joel). Hence, he says "you sure you are going through with this kiddo?". Ellie responds "i will find and kill every last one of them" What would make her so mad and frustrated?"
I like it.
Even if that isn't true I don't expect him to make it through the game alive.
I don't buy it. First I don't buy the whole glowing door thing. But I just don't see her going on that rampage for him. Going back to the lie and everyone else she has lost...it doesn't seem like a situation that is based on revenge rampages for one person.
Unless Fireflies took out Tommy's entire neighborhood. THEN there's something. But that doesn't add up with Joel asking Ellie if it's what she wants to do. They'd share in that hatred.
Granted the Fireflies have a very very good reason to kill Joel. So I can see why the storyline is a theory. I just don't think Joel is going to be dead already. And why would dead Joel need a gun?
Pfft.. like the fireflies could actually kill Joel. Couldn't even handle him in the last level with his bare hands and what amounted to a military force.
New Mass Effect game, new Last of Us. Praise the lord.
Is there a release date on this yet?
Nope, I would think 2017 Is dream, but 2018 much more likely
Don't forget RDR2
Make gaming great again
Cant get over watching the trailer. The crowd pop completely enhances it. It's like going back and watching pro wrestling videos on youtube when a surprise music hits. Just great reactions for the Fireflies logo, the Naughty Dog log, Ellie, Joel, and the Last Of Us logo. Can't stop watching
Will probably play through the original another 5-6 times before this comes out.
Analysis of the reveal trailer
hmm, didn't think Ellie's shirt being like Riley's, very interdasting
So let's assume Joel is dead, at the hands of the Fireflies, would Ellie be that enraged as to kill all of them? Remembering that the last glimpse we had of them was Joel lying to her face, would that be her reaction to Joel's death via Firefly?
Fuck me, can't wait a year or two for this shit. Need to play the original this weekend.
relevant shit starts at 6 minutes
Joel killing himself would be lame.
The more I think about, the more I think this game is at least 3 years away.
Gameranx explains what made the first one so great.
We have a thread Illinihockey
where are joel and ellie rn
one theory is that the chick who was getting hanged is...
Anna, Ellie's mom
supporting evidence for theory is here...
So I just finished Last of Us (I know, I'm behind...) and that was really an awesome game. It's rare that I get so emotionally invested in a game. The fact that my daughter's name is Ellie probably doesn't help.
I can’t find a thread for it but have you guys played the original?
I’d say I’m about halfway through an oh boy am I impressed. If I were to rate it I’d give it a hard 10/10 bordering on a 267/10 but that could change once I finish it
probably lost in the crash
“Man, I shot the hell outta that guy didn’t I?”
God tier vidya game line
I feel like I’ve seen it post crash, but it’s mostly just talk of how amazing the game was
Sam and Henry... fuck
Always enjoy watching someone experience a very special game/movie/etc for the first time. Enjoy it TrustyPatches , its a hell of a ride.
So I watched a play through of TLOU when it first came outand picked it up this week on sale for like $7 to do my own play through nearly 4 years later. Some things I remembered well like Joel’s lie, the giraffes, the long winter etc. Still, picking up the sticks and actually playing this game is one of the better if not best media related experiences of my life. They may sound overly romantic and it is certainly an opinion formed 4 years too late but after watching the credits roll I’m confident saying that.
Everything about the game is perfect. The atmosphere, gameplay, characters, music, sound, dialogue all blend together to create a level of tension that is unmatched and a story that is gripping and doesn’t let go of you for even a moment. It’s remarkable.
Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson deserve more credit for their portrayals of Joel and Ellie than they will ever get. From stand alone scenes to out and about dialogue exchanges Like Ellie explaining her dream of the airplane crashing or Joel going from closed off and standoffish about any and everything to opening up about Sara and his past as the story progresses. All of it is amazing and perfectly casted and delivered. Nolan North as David was excellent as well. Creepy and menacing.
I think maybe the best thing about the game is that it isn’t big budget Hollywood action/sci fi/fantasy. It’s intimate, tense, emotional, well acted and beautiful. It doesn’t wow you with explosions and lasers, it doesn’t craft a story that feels overly fantastical. It does it’s job by being a vessel for a story that really couldn’t have been told better or more effectively through any other medium. 1000/10 GOAT
tl;dr: Every greatest game ever made discussion starts and ends with The Last of Us. If you haven’t played it, play it. It’s essential.
If you didn't hum the JP theme song when the giraffes showed up then son I am disappoint
Marlene was a tough pill to swallow and the way Joel put her down didn’t help. I do kno that when I kick doored that OR I put bullets in everything sans Ellie with absolutely no thought to it. The game has a way of putting you in Joel’s shoes and living with it
Nice write-up, couldn't agree more.
I really enjoyed that he killed her, was the last thing anyone expected and it was really believable in the mental state Joel was in.
Yeah it couldn’t/shouldn’t have gone any other way but the lead up made it a difficult scene for me. The recordings and her journal all perfectly placed on Joel’s way to the OR let you know how much pain she was in and how she represented the other side of this mammoth moral dilemma. Marlene is the voice of painful reason while Joel speaks for your heart. It’s just great. It’s really unbelievable how good it is
This is the most articulate post in the history of TMB.... probably
God of war Friday. Hopefully I can top myself.
