no rational person cares if shes female or a lesbian but many of them still find major problems with the game
You’re always gonna get the 4-Chan/incel flunkies review bombing anything they perceive as woke. VG Twitter is a fucking cesspool. The grossest people. that being said, this isn’t a 10/10 95 meta critic game
hiding behind the "only incels hate it" thing is such a cop out, this game isn't a 3.5 or w/e the user score is but its no where near a fucking 95 or should even come close to the "greatest game ever made" praise its been getting from the critics.
I in my post say I find there to be reasonable criticisms that aren't just crypto-incels that they just get drowned out in the discourse around the game
not talking about you specifically, just the general discussion. Its like you can't criticize this game w/o being called an incel, or can't praise it without being called a cuck; its fucking exhausting. neither of the metacritic scores section on this are close to accurate, this is more of a 7.5-8/10 game than anything else. I'd play FF7R over this if given the choice to someone who hasn't played either.
And since we're still in spoiler mode I'll just say this, some of the bad parts of the story are just bad, maybe not Game of Thrones season 8 bad, but its a similar type of bad storytelling.
The feel I get is they tried too hard to one up TLOU part 1 when that game was already a masterpiece in storytelling. At this point I just hope Cory Barlog doesn't try to do the same thing and potentially taint the next God of War by chasing "bigger, more, more drama, more shock"
No hyperbole but it is quite possibly the best game of all time. He got a lot of shit from the fanboys/girls of the other franchises but this tweet about summed up God of War perfectly
Its actually kind of a curse, I'll be playing a really decent to good game in the similar genre of action adventure/combat/good story and I'll knock them down a few notches simply because they aren't as good. Like I should have been perfectly happy with Jedi Fallen Order because its legit the best Star Wars game since KotoR and probably might have been one of my favorite games on the PS4, but like every few hours I'll just go like "this isn't as good as GoW"
playing gears of war with the now wife when it first came out was a great experience, haven't played any since
It’s basically the Souls Curse. You become such a cunt after playing Souls that you hate everything else. My soul is rotted out with it and tbh TLOU2 never stood a chance.
Pretty apparent GoW fanboys are pissed TLoU2 scored higher on Metacritic And what critics out there are calling TLoU2 “the greatest game of all time”?
pretty much "Ellie can't chain a heavy runic attack into an executioner strike against a clicker? thefuck you mean this game is a masterpiece IGN?"
I’ve seen a few say “one of the greatest games of all time” and that’s rubbish. No offense to you because I do love and respect you but you really like some snoozers
Yeah I like all of the “great” games like TLOU and HZD but they aren’t as much fun as GoW. Just the fighting alone is so much more fun.
"The greatest game of this console generation? Of that there is absolutely no doubt. It’s also, quite possibly, the greatest video game of all time." - Screenrant "The Last of Us II is a master piece and one of the best games ever, period. It's all you need to know. God bless Naughty Dog and its employees. They're true artists in the way they were able to contain so many emotions within this single game, at the same time scorching the world to the ground." - GRYOnline.pl "The Last of Us Part II is the perfect combination of an excellent Hollywood movie with a fat budget with fun and flowing gameplay. The phenomenal writing will touch every player and won't leave an eye dry of tears. Combat and exploration are challenging and lead the player to use creativity and improvisation. A real masterpiece and a must-have for every PS4 owner." - Vgames "Considering it's one of the most anticipated games of 2020, I knew the game would be great before I actually started. What really surprised me is that it is even better than I could have thought. The Last Of Us: Part II is not only the greatest masterpiece Naughty Dog has ever made but also the best story-driven video game of all time." - Gamersky Among many other.
You know Druckmann had a co-writer this time around right? If you're mad at him, and I'm not critiquing whether you should be or not, you have to be mad at his co-writer too. While I loathe Polygon, this is the best link for the purpose of the post. https://www.polygon.com/2020/6/1/21277430/the-last-of-us-part-2-halley-gross-co-writer
So...critics from a Polish, an Israeli and a Chinese website say that. Got it. Tbh, I have no clue what it takes to have one’s review used on Metacritic. But video games seem to have the most obscure and irrelevant critics. I can’t remember what game I was reading a review for on MC, but the “critic” was just so off base that I wondered if he had even played the game. Then I looked up his review on whatever obscure website he was from and it was only his 3rd review in like 3 years or something. It’s like there’s no vetting on whose reviews get posted. Still never played a single moment of any COD game, so my tastes are better than most
Empire said it was gamings “citizen cane moment”. The Washington Post has a similar take. The gaming industry’s critical stratosphere is what it is. Who the fuck does anyone really “go to” for their scores? Just putting that energy out there is stupid
I agree. I don’t put much stock into any video game review/reviewer. There’s just too much inherent bias when it comes to video games. Like who the fuck gives ANY game a 100? There’s no perfect game. My comment was more of an indictment of Metacritic’s choices of reviewers.
I think these days, the video game review itself it fucking broken. Giving a game a flat 10 or 5 or 7 can’t possibly tell the entire story of a games quality or zero in on the tastes of the everyday gamer. I can’t remember the publication we had as kids that scored the games in different categories (sound, graphics, gameplay, fun factor) but that is absolutely the move with this medium.
The gaming media of 2020 feels like its full of people trying to be movie critics and as a result spawned games that are better suited to be watched/read than actually played. And I'm also going to say this, yes, it does feel like game devs can get away with certain things by simply hiding behind an LGBTQ element in their game and gaming media are either too scared or too dumb to call them out for it. "We made a shitty game? lets just add a lesbian to it" Its actually a massive fucking disservice to the LGBTG movement since it gives ammo to the actual incels by painting targets on "sjw" games that are also flawed or just flat out bad.
So it’s a shitty game now? Can you guys just be content with those of us that are legitimately enjoying the game? Go subtweet Druckmann if you need to drag your nuts on something.
I’m really enjoying it. I’ve spent a lot of time just going around looking at things and reading the lore from collectibles and things. I don’t see what everyone is on about with the story being bad. It definitely doesn’t have the emotional depth as the first one, but it’s a different story - a different tone. And it’s a video game. It doesn’t have to be Dostoyevsky.
its an above average game with better gameplay than part 1 and some good story parts but also some really bad story parts.
So far this is game of the generation level to me but I'm still in day 2. Havent read any spoilers but Curious to see whats possibly going to happen to cause the amount of bitching we've seen on the internet and itt
The first 5 hours is what bugs me the most. The game has improved a great deal since then but it’s still kinda boring
It’s tracking somewhere between my #1 and #2. My top 3 PS4 titles right now are God of War, Death Stranding, and Days Gone. I’m prepared to be wooed by this next chapter.
What’s with all the low user scores? I’ve avoided almost all news and trailers about this game. Any reason to not buy?
We must not be playing the same game then friend. Boring is not the term I would use to describe it. Everytime there is an enemy encounter I'm shitting bricks. The scavenging/exploration parts are admittedly slow but needed because I'm searching every nook for items and bullets because I'm almost always on my last piece of material. Should also mention I'm playing on the hardest difficulty.
Idk it’s just the execution to that point had me at low motivation and it got to the point it felt like a chore. It’s improving tho. I just got to a part that really did the trick
My surround system is absolutely thumping on Day 3. Holy shit. I really hope this game gets an enhanced update for PS5. Haptic feedback on the DS5 would put this experience over the top for me.
