I think what we need is a group akin to the Aldo Raine led Basterds. We need to seek out these Trump voters and mark them so we know exactly who to oppress going forward.
They're already constantly oppressed, what with not being able to adorn public schools entirely with scenes from the Bible and people they will never know having abortions for reasons they can't possibly grasp
I'm just saying that when we create our utopia we need a way to separate the poors we care about and want to benefit from all our leftist mumbo jumbo and the poors we want to suffer for saddling us with trump.
Didnt realize Naomi had a new book. One star reviews. "The goals of the American left(mass immigration, multiculturalism, and globalization)are the sane goals of the global corporate-capitalist establishment. Trump's aggressive nationalist agenda is the only one that can offset the dystopia the neo-liberal alliance of Democrats, and Neo-Conservative Republicans want to drag us into" "Hence, the title of the book gives you the first clue. Small mind equates to small perspective. A cultish group thinker mentality lacking the ability to think independently or understand the world from a grander perspective, beyond her box." "Naomi Klein has made a career giving guidance to the dumbest segment of the juvenile left. Each new generation brings a new crop of kids susceptible to the siren song of Marxism. Klein repackages Marxism, explaining to her star-struck acolytes, most of whom probably never heard of Marx, that evil billionaires and scheming corporate bosses are conspiring to further oppress every oppressed group. Klein explains the world by shoehorning the real world into Marxist categories. Some of the people in Trump's Cabinet are wealthy – proof for Klein that scheming capitalists have taken over the government." White men are parodied as mean-spirited and lording it over women, brown people, and black people. This is Klein dropping the sweet and humble act and baring her fangs. If only she and her allies can tear the country apart by inciting racial animus, there might be an opening for the left to obtain political power. Klein loves the supposed global warming catastrophe. Klein sees everything through political glasses. It does not matter that global warming stopped 18 years ago, or that that large numbers of qualified scientists doubt or denounce the computer projections of global warming from CO2. Following Klein's climate program would not have much effect on CO2 emissions, given that China is the main emitter of CO2 and is rapidly growing its CO2 emissions. Klein's only interest in global warming is its utility as a tool for promoting leftist politics."
I mean I honestly think the next cycle is as simple as campaign on single payer and ride the wave. It polls well even among Republican voters. It's so simple a program on its face, everyone can understand it "oh it's like how my grandpa doesn't worry about his medical expenses and now I'll have it too." Give them one universal government program that everyone can look at and understand how it improves their lives. Stop being stupid Dems. Kick the health insurance execs to the curb.
I posted "The Politics of Resentment" about Wisconsin a few times. Topical. "Research on implicit racial priming tells us that the term "inner city" is racialized - that this term activates racial attitudes... anti-urban resentment is not simply resentment against people of color. At the same time, given the way arguments against government redistribution in the US have historically been made by equating deservingness with whiteness, these conversations are about race even when race is not mentioned." "Resentment is operating because people perceive they are not getting their fair share. They are making sense of this injustice by resenting those whom they think are getting more than they deserve, and perceptions of who works hard and who is deserving are infected with racism. But those notions of distributive justice are intertwined with race - neither separate from nor synonymous with a simple distinction of white versus other." "This is how politics of resentment operates - it works through seemingly simple divisions of us versus them, but it has power because in these divisions are a multitude of fundamental understandings; who has power, who has what values and which of those values are right, who gets what, and perceptions of the basic fairness of all of this. it is opposition to other people, and the overlap of urban and racially "other" is a powerful combination. This is part of the reason racism is so persistent. Because it is intertwined with other fundamental attitudes, it can be invoked and expressed in seemingly social acceptable ways. in the conversations I observed, when people expressed racist sentiments, they did so while weaving them with values and allegiances of which they were sufficiently certain and proud that they were willing to express them in front of me, a relative stranger." "I don't have a problem with Obama at all." several people who supported Obama also found it necessary to justify their stance with comments about Obama's intelligence and distinctiveness from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton"
Oh guess what, your wages are going up more than your taxes are because we're no longer pulling from your paycheck to give you health coverage
He'll win, places like that will continue to put shit tier human beings in power. It's in their blood to be stupid
here's a nice horror story about an "organic" egg farm http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-egglands-best-organic-herbruck-farm-20170713-story.html
Edit: AlternativeFactsRule already covered both points. New talking point/hot take: Working class people don't oppose tax increases because they harbor fantasies of being rich themselves one day. They merely think they work hard for their money and don't see why they, or anyone else, should have to give away more of it. And they don't understand the nuance of why it's different for really rich people.
Imagine having to slather your meats with BBQ sauce because they have no flavor or are dry and calling it good BBQ.
Just that it's against the very popular down on their luck line, not that it's some kind of "out there" idea.
Another problem that makes working class people oppose tax increase is that a lot of the programs funded by those tax increases do not benefit them. For example free college tuition in NYS while great the income threshold of $125K is quite low for someone living in the NYC area and someone making that much does not view that type of program as being worth paying higher taxes.
Honest question: Do you guys see a potential civil war brewing in this country? Things are as partisan as I can remember. I know it really started under Clinton (you do too if you're honest) and has gotten progressively worse every President since.
Can you at least admit how dumb it is that certain segments of 'the left' deem their opponents as "Nazi's"? Like no...if they were REALLY protesting the actual Nazi's...shit would be a lot different.
In theory that is partially true. However, as current polling shows, they are not switching teams. They will continue to vote for their team, hopefully they will have better positions in a generation (Ted Cruz and Nugent seem to be frustratingly healthy) dems have to work turnout
There are no real Nazi's bro. Be serious. You guys need to stop larping with that shit. The American Right is NOTHING like the NSDAP.
ok good talk. your longtime reverence for them has never been cool, by the way. it's pretty lame, actually.
Reverence? No. Facts, yes. The American right is nowhere near as hardcore as what you claim them to be. You do realize what you're comparing Republicans/Right Wing Americans to, yes? Get real bro. Not even playing the same game, let alone ballpark.
i dont understand your interest in coming in here and being like "hey guys let's talk, j/k you know nothing, jews, rothschilds, pepe, etc" this has been going on for years
I've mentioned nothing of the sort. But way to go, get them free "Likes". I'm simply saying the way some on the left are throwing the word 'Nazi' around is silly. Where are the right wing death squads? You think groups like ANTIFA would flourish under the guise of groups like the SS? Please lol. It cheapens your cause (which believe it or not, I happen to lean left on certain issues)
And criminal justice reform, ending the war on drugs but yeah yeah, right? Thanks for addressing NOTHING else I said.
"let me tell you about REAL nazis" shouldn't be dignified what was your goal here? to get someone to admit that there isn't a gestapo analogue? like.. what?
That the analogy your ilk is drawing is ludicrous. There are NO REAL NAZIS anymore. Admit it and I will leave the thread.
