What does any of that have to do w Perez?

DNC chair is more about supporting the party, campaigns and candidates and running an organization. The Chair doesn't set platform. I believe Perez has the best skill set and experience to do that.

Perez is a progressive Dem with better bonafides than Ellison

It's about direction. Instead of a top down approach of support and raising money, you work at a community level in both activism and fundraising...

Perez was Labor Secretary, so its news to me he represents the corporate wing of the DNC. Where are you drawing that from?

He definitely reps the Obama wing of the DNC (which was different and broader than the Clinton wing), but he was also the most progressive cabinet member Obama appointed. My point being: a guy of your political persuasion is going to get a great outcome as DNC chair with any of the 3 choices.

The most recent example was when both were asked about the influence of consultants that are also big donors Perez answered that "he didn't know that it was an issue, and that we should think big tent". Ellison said “We are battling the consultant-ocracy.” and has spoken out time after time about the merits of crowd based fundraising. He's shown he's adept as Sanders at it. It matters cause money always equals influence. Making sure that much of it comes from average Americans matters when it comes to those needs being addressed. I'm not saying Perez is a horrible choice, he's just not the best choice IMO. The next head of the DNC needs to continue the culture revamp of the party. Ellison is that guy.

rank and file conservatives believe a lot of stuff that i disagree with, but i dont know know how instructive cpac is about them because it seems to attract a lot of wackos

The "culture revamp" the DNC needs imo is to allow for all voices and candidates to rise. To be a tent that encompasses both Dem socialists and progressives. I'm concerned frankly when I read and hear people like you express a preference for Ellison based on his democratic socialist leanings. It should be clear after DWS and the past few years that the DNC chair's only political opinion should be "the entire left" and not just one part of it.

I've been a Perez backer for awhile but I'd be perfectly happy with Ellison (or Mayor Pete). That said, we need to focus on the entire left not just part of it. Let's not make that mistake again.

While I also prefer Ellison and I see you point of view, I have to disagree. My fellow progressives always seem to want control without, you know, winning elections. I'm sure you didn't mean it like this, but I think it would be a shame if the some progressives abandoned trying to revamp the party and too their ball and went home. Progressives need to continue to show they can be a dependable voting base.

Also, acting like Tom Perez is this corporatist tool is complete crazy talk. This time last year Bernie Bros would have cum their pants if they had heard Tom Perez was running the DNC. Perez Ellison and Buttchug were all excellent options.

Perez is a vast improvement over DWS and DB. He's not my guy, but the DNC has much better incoming leadership than it has had in a long time. Still not happy with the amount of clout big money had over this process, and what it could mean for the future. However, today is a good day...

It's not that Tom Perez is a corporatist, it's that they went out of their way to find a candidate who is so similar to Ellison but wouldn't marginalize so much of their clout. The vote to continue accepting lobbying dollars earlier today is just as troubling. Even if you don't agree with my position, perhaps you can understand that the idea of leaving the mechanisms in place that put the party in the same spot it was in 2016 seems like a bad idea. When it matters, who's voice gets heard the most?

I agree with your points, but it seems like two separate issues. Biggest immediate priority is to loosen the hold the GOP has on state and national politics. The second long term priority needs to be a loosening of power by wealthy individuals and interests on politics.

Im about to move to savannah so I was looking up the politics of the state. The amount of republicans who went uncontested is just straight up inexcusable. Clinton won Chatham county yet its us representative won without even a god damn democratic opponent.

The problem is that most people who want to get into politics seem to have a personality disorder.
