So one of my coworkers has MS. It was cheaper for him to couch surf in Australia for 18 months to get his treatments than stay here where it would have been Iike 6 figures or something crazy like that. Sad statement on our healthcare system. I mean we all know that but it puts a different stamp on it when you look at it through the window of someone you know.
Bernie going over to Canada and getting 10x cheaper insulin for diabetics and shouting his loudest about it didn't rile enough people up. At some point the insurance companies in our country are going to fuck over enough people enough times that maybe we'll finally pressure our political leaders to actually listen to us. At least hopefully in my kid's lifetime.
I looked this up. Their point isn’t as bad as the title makes it seem, but still problematic. General point is: having a job made me a better citizen inside and gave me a chance to not come back. it’s an interesting point and I wonder how we can enact legislation to pay these prisoners a living wage and maybe put half of their pay into some type of account that they receive upon completion of their sentence which would help them reintegrate into society.
For me I've lost all hope of any tangible climate change proposals being enacted after seeing what's happened in this pandemic. People are dying by the hundreds of thousands all around them and you have a large segment of the population that refuses to do something as simple as wear a mask. Climate change evidence is not going to be more in your face than Covid has been which is quantifiable in the amount of people its killed yet they still deny/minimize its existence. Meanwhile our government can't even pass a $1200 stimulus bill. Americans are stupid and we're just gonna bring this country and the whole world crashing down with us because of our stupidity.
