It's very similar. You are very passionate about niche issues/ dumb shit that no one really gives a fuck about.
Me: Hey, in order to win back a valuable demographic in order to keep the fascists from winning elections, maybe it would help if white people stopped using a term 98% of those people don't use. Y'all: What are you, a Republican?
That's because you had to move on from the mask thing that you ended up being being wrong as shit about
Merica did the same thing where he had random grievances with some group of people but you weren't refer really sure who his beef was with. He decided that group was the enemy over largely unimportant bullshit. Listening to Ben Shapiro fed into it obviously
So I'm posting about Latinx, which I just started 10 minutes ago for the first time ever, because I'm no longer posting about masks?
How in the hell do you look at that poll where the overwhelming majority of respondents said, “we don’t give a shit,” and decide that it shows there is a problem with usage of that term?
It's got the same feel. I'm sure most in this thread don't really fucking care and will call Latin people whatever they would like to be called. It's the same weird aggressive thing you did about masks
Hey guys, I've got a great idea. Let's use a term that 98% of our target demo doesn't use -- one that has literally zero meaning in the Spanish language -- and then in 2024 let's get back together and bitch about what went wrong when they vote for DeSantis in droves.
Do you have a poll showing use of the word Latinx drives Latin voters to vote for candidates that oppose it? Or are you maybe just laundering right wing “anti-PC” rhetoric for some unknown purpose?
A) I agree very few people of Latin descent use the term B) Also seems like very few people of latin descent take offense to it C) No one is voting republican because libs use LatinX. If they are, they're not gettable voters anyway.
That said and anecdotal - all my latino friends/coworkers think LatinX is pretty cringey and a little virtue signally when it's used unprompted towards them. They dont take offense because it's comes from a good place, but it does induce for eye rolls. (Amd we're all a fairly progressive group)
I agree with all this. I don't have a study proving it, but, why do anything to jeopardize our standing with that demographic? Why even chance it?
I’m not trying to suggest that you are transforming into TH 2.0, but these 2 responses are read like some shit that TH would post, it’s so similar that it’s scary.
What’s up with these people using the pronoun “they” 98% of people don’t do that we’re gonna alienate people!
The former. For the record, and for what it’s worth, I could not give fewer shits about Latino/a/x. If you feel compelled to go with Latinx…well…dale.
You have my permission. If anyone gives you a hard time, just tell them your brown friend from the internet said it was okay.
This is going to sound uncharacteristic for me but it seems like lantinx is a white left thing way more than a groundswell from native Spanish speakers.
Replies are saying this is just a bit, but good lord is it still awful. Okay I actually watched this video and now I want to kill myself.
