the way that virgils friends treated that whole situation was bad, but virgil had already been kind of unstable so i suspect that played a part in it
He was on pretty regularly, enough to be considered a cohost imo. He was very featured during election cycle news. He disappeared after Bernie dropped out of the 2020 primary.
Who knows how they divvy it up but I imagine will, Matt, and Felix get the lion’s share. cumtown is the ultimate gig. $90k a month patreon and they just turn on the mic and talk.
I admittedly wasn't around during the early days, but I'm guessing Virgil was a late addition. I'll always love cumtown for their ad pitches alone.
Like what was mentioned, I think the Bernie screw job pissed him off and he wound up leaving Chapo informally after that. A few months later he was being accused of grooming a minor. What is funny is that people on the cumtown subreddit thought he was going to face some me too alligations way before that happened, mostly because obviously Virgil Texas is his moniker and what he has always forced people to call him by and that is obviously not his real name.
This was a good read. Story as same as it's always been - The Left eats itself. Good discussion on the podcast linked in the piece too https://theintercept.com/2022/06/13/progressive-organizing-infighting-callout-culture/
An incredibly frustrating read but shows why nothing will ever change. Too much nuance and thought involved instead of action while the republicans get in a huddle and say 'keep everything the same or make people suffer more?' and agree and move on and push that message
my thought is that the people who provide the funding for the right are what keeps them on target. no such entity on the left.
Garofalo had some nutty views and whatnot (look up her falling out with Seder) but goddamnit she should get so much recognition for standing up to the Iraq War when she was brought on shows specifically to be the punching bag (I know Sam's talked about this for years). Don't have as much time to listen to Sam anymore but miss the fuck outta him/Michael and the main thing that drew me in to him was discussing actual realities (the actualy cost of the Iraq War and every big name gop'er hating the flyover states) while every other fucktard gop middle of America rep spends as littele time as possible in the state they're supposed ro represent.
This tweet reminds me of the fact that Sinead O’Connor was destroyed despite being 100% right and has never been given the respect she is due.
What was she right on? The only controversy I remember about her was ripping up a picture of the pope on SNL
I think the reason behind that was the child sex stuff in the Catholic church. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
This is correct, and rather than acknowledging the problem people pulled the same shit they did with kneeling during the anthem, ignored the problem because she didn’t protest the right way.
I mean when has anyone ever wanted to work. That’s such a stupid thing to say. Given the choice of getting money for doing nothing vs money for doing something, why would you choose the former?
I believe in one God, Capital almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all commodities visible and invisible. And in one Lord, profit, the only-begotten son of the Market, begotten of labor before all age.
This is about British railway strikes but the way he fights through their talking points in a wonderfully British way is great. The worst part is we are so far away from anything close to this.
That’s because our media rarely has on labor leaders. They are denied the platform. When is the last time you can remember a labor leader having an interview like that? The dude from New York that started the Amazon Union. That’s about it.
Only Christian Smalls. Well and the new head of the Teamsters but that was only on a friendly podcast, no adversarial questions. But that’s it. Hopefully with the new ground swell of support for unions will have a new generational attitude shift and more leaders here will get more opportunity to speak. I’m not expecting it any time soon though and they will try to tear them down even harder.
work yourself until you're a miserable shell of yourself only to die broke and alone. You know, the American dream. Also: "this just in, depression isn't just caused by serotonin levels in your brain, there's something else causing people these gnawing feelings of desperation, bottomless angst, self loathing, and helplessness"
that seems more like the "we're tired of these pricks at Amazon calling us constantly because they keep breaking their employees' human dignity and making us deal with it" ---which, to be quite honest, is about the best you can hope for from the po-po.
Sam Seder got on Prager's call in show the same way he did for Crowder, but they hung up on him the second they realized it lol
