I'm gonna give Favreau and Filoni the benefit of the doubt here and just assume that that back story is relevant and is necessary for the Mando storyline.
He was as opposite a badass as he could be. Just a tired old man. It should have been his Logan, but it wasn't anything close
She was an officer on moff gideons ship, presumably now a spy/saboteur for the empire. Showed up a few times in seasons 1 and 2. I had to go back through previous episodes because I had no memory of her.
Just like how so much of the prequels’ shittiness was filled in by Filoni, he’s trying to do the same with the sequels (rather, with TROS) And it sucks but he’ll probably do a good job
The prequels had an interesting story though. Just poor execution. The sequel trilogy not so much. Shit all the way through.
Kind of a weirdly paced and adventure of the week episode, but still fun. Hopefully we get more of a sense on where the season and overall story is going next week.
I enjoyed that episode. I still have reservations about how they're going to turn Grogu into a believable warrior, but I'll give them a fair chance to prove me wrong.
Another cool episode which would be great in like a 13 episode season but just takes up too much space in an 8 episode one.
idk what to tell you then. This is all headed to a conclusion that is trying to clean up and feed into the force awakens She has been in Mando and Book. They’re going to come back together at some point. They need to introduce Thrawn as well it’s all one timeline
since the end of season 2, grogu has trained with Luke for 3 years, gone back to Din, been to Mandalore, become a foundling, and began training. A lot has happened imo
100%. Spoiler decent chance they're positioning Grogu as a long-term character. he will stay a baby until this series ends and they will grow him up and make him the focal point of a new series where he's flying around in Beskar with the Darksaber. I would imagine this series ends with him being given the Darksaber.
Spoiler He can’t be given the dark saber. It has to be won in battle. And even then, you have to be of the right mind to wield it. They’ve given enough hints that Din is conflicted. Maybe that changes now that he’s been baptized or whatever in the cave pool, but he’s still prioritizing grogu over being. True mandalorian. Willing to bet he choses to removes his helmet for grogu again at some point. I think Bo Katan being changed into a true believer is just a fake out. If I had to guess, she does something to sacrifice herself to try and redeem for Mandalore being destroyed under her watch. She never gets the chance to remake Mandalore That leaves Grogu to become “the mandalorian” and wield it.
They have definitely made Bo-Katan more interesting than I thought they could/would in that I don't know what she's up to right now. Seems like there are a lot of different ways she can go, good or bad. I'm not terribly interested in Grogu becoming Mandalorian and whatnot, but I'll see where it takes me.
My theory is as his memories begin to awaken his force training at the academy will as well and that ramps his power up. The only thing is I’m sure Luke could of done that for him but maybe he thought he wasn’t ready? Or maybe he wanted to see if he’d choose Jedi or Mando? Who was the Jedi that saved him? I thought it would be Vos but that wasn’t him.
Agree they need to maybe fast forward Grogu at some point. “baby yoda” was a brilliant marketing/merch idea but where the fuck do you go with it?
Kelleran Beq, a Jedi created to host the kid's game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge and yes, that's canon. It was basically given to Ahmed Best as a redemption of sorts since he endured a ridiculous amount of shit for playing Jar Jar and then they made it even better by using him in this episode where he got to be a badass and save a beloved character. I mentioned this in my spoilered post but Disney is clearly thinking long-term given the success of Grogu. Given how his species ages and given that the show is forever centered around Djarin, he will only ever be baby Grogu. However, I do think the ultimate goal is a Grogu-centric show, that's likely what is next and then you'll see an older Grogu but for now, yea, give up all hope of that unless you want to tune in one day and they'll just be like "lol 150 years ago Djarin died ok bye". also worth mentioning Yoda only died because he wanted to die. that species is a blank slate they can do anything with, Grogu could be figuratively immortal if they so deemed it.
