Anyone know anything about the new bbq place in Mountain Brook Village called Icehouse? I've heard rumblings but there is not much info out there.
It’s a Texas-style bbq place owned by the group that has dram, Avo, Jackson’s, etc. I went Tuesday night and enjoyed it. They’ve got some kinks to work out, mostly on the service end, but everybody was really nice and the food was good.
What’s the story behind Caliber? I had some time to kill in Birmingham a few weeks ago and went in for a minute. That place is ridiculous. They had 2-3 $50k shotguns.
I think it’s going to be able to keep the lights on by selling Barretta Silver Pigeons to Brookies going on their first ever quail hunt. Pretty cool store, though. It’s high end stuff, but there’s really not that much of a markup.
I don’t imagine they’d have to worry about this with Al or Jay, but could definitely see Tony Kurre saying some dumb(er) shit the day after being fired. If I’m in my car, the radio is on JOX.
Had dinner at Rougeroux the other night, quite delectable. Was quite the surprise to crank up the radio the other day on the way to work and hear these yankee assholes. Could be worse than moving the RT earlier though.
Went to Icehouse. Brisket was very good. Little pricey for what you get, but it’s the Dram people. So that shouldn’t be surprising. Very Small space. Has a full bar. Good place to go for lunch or takeout. Not sure it’s ever going to be a place to go and post up and hang for a while. Not a Saws Juke Joint atmosphere.
I was friends with Al’s daughter in high school and used to frequent his house. Al is a huge douche (although I am sure he didn’t like a teenage Sam freeloading around his house). Tony Kurre was an absolute joke of a sports talk show host. Elementary level sports knowledge coupled with extreme confidence and bravado. So glad that show is off the air. The worst part about it was how Tony and Al would try to push their religious/political agenda on people. Tony can’t go an hour without making a Trump reference. So what is the plan long term? I would assume they want their 10-2 slot back. Dunnaway is pulling like 14 hour workdays right now assuming he’s still doing 5 o clock news.
Thank you. Matt and Scott wasn't the best but I found entertaining sometimes and there's only so much to do with sports talk 6-9pm. "Here's the same sports news you heard on the morning show, the afternoon show, and Finebaum." The OD made me want to swerve into oncoming traffic.

Taco Mama is printing money, its like the new Moe's BBQ how they're popping up everywhere. Food is overrated IMO. The douchiest of my 30+ fraternity brothers who works for his parents just had one gifted to him.
Taco mama’s chorizo is solid, the other things I’ve tried have been meh. Moe’s wings and drink specials are great
I'm a big fan of the topping flexibility, and the ingredients taste a lot fresher than what you get at other spots
For the record I don’t dislike Moe’s BBQ I was just comparing Taco Mama’s growth to the way Moe’s expanded over the last ~7 years.
There have been at least five new taco mamas to open in the last year...they’ve expanded into Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, and Mobile and have at least four locations in Birmingham.
Cole saying this morning that he’s just walking away, spending too much time away from his family, etc. I’m sure he takes a month or two off and then they’ll announce his new show on WJOX.
Lock of the century. How is his show in Huntsville? He is always a great guest on the Roundtable. I LOVE the Roundtable but don't think Brown adds anything to the show, and sometimes I think his shitty attitude holds them back. Some of my favorite shows are the days that its just Jim and LT because Rocky gets a lot more mic-time. I think the show would be better without him, but understand they need a third guy so they can get their vacation in. Outside of golf and SEC football he really doesn't have much sports knowledge, and there isn't exactly a shortage of people who can talk college football in Birmingham, AL.
