The asking price was already very aggressive...I’ve only made about $5k in improvements and been here three years. This is a 65 year old 3/1 that needs windows and a new HVAC. Based on the contract it appears to be a young kid straight out of college who’s parents are buying it for them seemingly no budget. They left a personal check with the realtor.
Busy night out last night. Parkside was slammed. Was quoted an hour and a half wait at Fon Fon at 9pm. Also does anyone go to Ghost Train? The beer seemed solid but it smells like a barn in there and is seemingly under construction.
roommate is manager at GT. their beer is delicious but yeah the taproom is kind of a mess cause they've outgrown their space. wouldn't be shocked to see them go the cahaba route and move somewhere a lot larger cause i know their sales are extremely good.
I have probably bitched about this before but I have the hardest time getting kegs in this city. Everyone is very cryptic with their pricing and offerings.
I got the most condescending “we do not sell kegs of beer here” from some store manager in vestavia. I asked what they did have kegs of in response which didn’t get me anywhere.
Hop City sells them, but they won't let you look at a list. They say "what do you want?" you tell them a beer and they see if they have it and tell you a price. Most of the time I am trying to find a good value beer that is better than Miller Lite but also not paying insane price so I am asking about 4-5 beers and they start getting annoyed. You order something and they call you back the next day and say that it's out of stock. For reference Goose Island 312 is like 78 bucks where Cahaba blonde is like 140, that is why you have to ask about pricing.
Vulcan Beverage or Highland Package Store. Those are your best bets and they had decent prices about a year ago.
Was there this past weekend for a wedding, was grabbing some coffee Sunday morning and saw an insane wreck at green springs and lakeshore. The car went up in flames and burned the fuck out of the light pole on the corner.
Spotted on the way to work. Guess this would work well also in that “things that are only funny because of TMB” thread.
Has anyone else been following the Carlos Gray murder/retaliation story? Carlos Gray was a former Packer and four guys were just charged with kidnapping/killing the guy they believe killed him.
There were more children than adults at Brat Brot last Saturday...not a brewery but still. Cahaba is probably the most kid friendly brewery.
Went to Brat Brot again Sunday with some friends. Their breakfast burger is great, as are the cinnamon pretzels.
It started out ok but I can’t say enough bad things about them now. Same owners as Mugshots AKA cornier Applebee’s. Your money is better spent elsewhere. If you want gyros, walk two blocks away to Falafel Cafe. Eli’s or Makario’s are other good options for similar style food
Anybody have recommendations for hikes within an hour of bham? We’ve done most of the trails at Oak Mountain and are looking to branch out....
This is also pretty good https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/alabama/falling-rock-falls-hike but Pinhoti is going to be more "challenging"
Not sure about the hiking trails but Horse Pens Forty is beautiful if you’re looking to fuck around outdoors.
Ruffner, Red Mountain Park, and Moss Rock Preserve have some solid shorter trails, but they tend to get crowded on nice days. Sipsey is a little bit more than an hour away, but it's incredible. It's a legit wilderness area. Tannehill is just okay. Cheaha State Park and the Pinhoti trail are both solid, but the Pinhoti can be pretty demanding.
The Mugshots in Vestavia is piss poor. I doubt it stays open much longer. Also, download that alltrails app Freak was talking about.
you don't think a name that closely resembles the term for a hole to stick your dick in is good for a restaurant?
Or the location, or the theme of the restaurant, or anything else? It's just so stupid it hurts. The only place slightly worse than it is the Hawaiian-themed "Baha Burger," because (1) the place is Baja and (2) it's in Mexico.
Y’all are going to love this...I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure the founders are big widespread panic fans and the name is an homage/reference to some song lyric. Talking about glory bound
goddamn that makes me irrationally annoyed. half the reason i hate going to moe's bbq, despite their food being solid, is that awful grateful dead/jammy aesthetic they have.
