The second hottest level at Hattie B’s (damn hot) is without question hotter than the stupid hot at Eugene’s. Eugene’s just has better overall flavor to go with the heat. I’ve never tried shut the cluck up at Hattie’s because the damn hot already ruins my insides for two days.
There’s no way you guys got damn hot at Hattie’s and didn’t at least think it was spicy. I think it’s something along the lines of 0.8-1 million scoville, and their hottest is in the 2.2 million scoville range.
Shut the cluck up is hot as fuck at Hattie B's. If you think that is weak you have some sort of medical condition. I can entertain that someone may prefer Eugene's.. I just know too many people in Bham that wrote off Hattie B's as "a chain" and that is just an awful take. I think they are similar in quality and the Hattie B's location/parking/experience for outweighs dealing with going Eugene's for me.
these are good takes. hattie b's is def quite solid despite not being a bham original. that said, eugene's is better.
Hell yeah http://www.al.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2018/05/james_beard_award-winning_chef_1.html Cliffs: Rodney Scott opening a BBQ joint in Bham
Nola, homie. But once we finally murder each other, then you get the title. The awards are also incredibly biased toards Nola and Bham deserves more. That aside, that restaurant is awesome news.
oh anybody else been to mom's basement yet? new bar in avondale in that same strip as tropicaleo and shepherd's pet supply. went last thursday and friday and really enjoyed it.
They’re hiring extras and paying $8 an hour if anyone wants to be in that “Live” movie they’re filming downtown. Mrs.Drivebybbq applied and they wanted to book her, but we’re out of town this weekend. https://filmbirmingham.com/extras-livefilm/
Theres stiff competition everywbere he's been and he's the only BBQ chef to win a beard award for a reason. I do prefer lewis' in Charleston overall, but they serve different stuff so it's not a direct comparison.
It really takes guts to set up shop in a food scene already saturated with Taco Casa, Milos, and Jacks but I think he's got the stuff to pull it off.
I will say this about Jack’s. They are better the more in the middle of nowhere they are. Jack’s in Locust Fork awesome. Jacks in Irondale not so much.
Jack’s is superior, but it’s not impressive to step over the extremely low bar set by Milo’s so this will be my last comment on the situation. No questions please. Thank you.
Jacks is not what it used to be 10, 20 or 30 years old. We used to get breakfast there a lot of times when I was growing up. It also seems like they changed the oil up that they fry their chichen in. It has a funky taste now.
My deaf and blind uncle in law does quality control for Jack's. He says it's because they stopped using USDA approved cooking quality oil and started purchasing donkey fat. On the secondary market, actually.
I assumed it related to something from that Aaron Eckhart movie they’re filming. Traffic has been a goddamn nightmare near my office all week.
