I love the Crestwood Aldi. Trussville just got some fancy new one in the new strip mall there. The beef is actually pretty great: vac packed USDA Choice. Thanks for suggestions. We just ate at some random mom and pop right by the visitors center. It was food. The drive along the canyon is really neat. Will definitely hike the one trail (Eberhart) that goes all the way down to the deepest part when I don't have the kids with me. The terrain there is really neat. Reminds me so much of home in WV.
“We feel as though there is some social norming that has taken place with the use of marijuana and we want to be very clear the stance that law enforcement takes is that marijuana is not a safe drug,” Hammac said. “It is a drug and it’s highly addictive.”
Thought the amendment requiring a second opinion to get a medical card was interesting. The prohibitionists aren't going down without a fight. I refuse to get my hopes up for this. I expect it to be DOA with the full Senate.
Anyone got a coupon code for Legion FC tickets? I figured they'd have a kids ticket price...NOPE. I really don't want to spend c. $80 taking two kids to this tonight. Holy wow. TIA.
This was awesome to see. So many close calls all game, and they were absolutely dominant. Then, the strike in the last minute!
Pretty sure this puts us above the current cut line to make the playoffs. Seems like the ownership group is serious about winning.
It does but there's still a ton left to play. Regular season ends in October. That said, we're definitely improving week to week which is increasingly fun to watch.
If any of y'all need work done at a good price I've got a couple of guys that do just about everything. Have had them to do paint, gutter fix, light masonry work and some other random things.
I am pleased to report that I took a foray into the salad offerings at the down town roly poly and had a positive experience. The brown derby salad is actually quite good, and the name brings back memories of late Saturday nights.
NPR just ran a national story on “The fifth little girl”, Sarah Collins Rudolph, who was blinded at 12 years old in the 16th street baptist church bombing. She and her husband still live here. They said in the interview that she’s still paying medical costs related to the injury out of pocket. NPR said they’d reached out to the Mayor’s office but hadn’t received a response.
We had a good time at the old Red Hills Brewing location in Homewood (next to Iron City Pops/Little Donkey). Someone bought the location and renamed it the Grocery Store. They brew their own, but also had a selection of local and national beers, as well as a liquor bar. Dogs and kids welcome, but kids have to be out by 8p. The Off the Hook food truck also parks in front and serves food. As opposed to Red Hills, they now have a ton of TVs, some pool tables, and live music.
The owner is Name is Rayford. He owns Off the Hook food truck which is why it’s out there. He’s working on getting a full kitchen with in next 6 months. It’s been pretty busy since he opened. Live music Thursday - Saturday night from 6-9:00.
Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get my cat spayed? My current vet gave me an estimate for almost $500, and that seems kind of steep.
Coming from the north on 59, how should one get to the bjcc with minimal time spent in road construction?
Get off at the Tallapoosa Street exit and take 40th N to Richard Arrington N. That should get you to Top Golf. It also gets you a scenic tour of Birmingham.
You can get a voucher to get it done for $45 at participating vets. https://animaladoption.org/spay-neuter-certificates/

Good luck this weekend wes tegg. I saw all the girls packing shit up for the hike. Looks like it’s going to be hot as balls.
If you have a spare ticket to sell for Tyler Childers tomorrow night at Avondale, please be a dear and let me know. Thank you kindly. Edit: Nevermind!
If any of y’all are going to see John Paul White at the lyric tonight, then I recommend trying to catch the opening band—the prescriptions. Two of my good pals are in the band and they’re quite good. Just got signed to single lock (hence the connection with John Paul White).
I'm not sure what's up with SL? Lots of bands seem to record albums then wait a year or so before they are released and marketed. I know that Dylan LeBlanc and The Pollies have released albums recently on ATO records. I occasionally talk with a few folks that have recorded albums with Ben and released them through SL. There's been a lot of those guys shuffling between SL bands over the years. They also record albums, hold down spots at gigs or open shows for each other. There's also the occasional Alabama Shakes opener spot since Ben plays keys for them.
A little help here...probably going to 4pm Barons game today...where do I want to sit to be out of the sun?
