Ah, ok. We moved in on the 4th floor in 2017 and left last July.
Woodfin is a clown, I mean what did he expect? He went to the park where the crowd was already hostile, and once they couldn’t get the monument down, they went after things they could destroy.
Attorney General Steve Marshall Statement on Birmingham Linn Park Confederate Monument (MONTGOMERY) — Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall issued the following statement in response to attempts to destroy the 115-year-old Confederate Soldiers and Sailors monument in Birmingham’s Linn Park. “The Alabama Monuments Preservation Act provides a singular avenue for enforcement — the filing of a civil complaint in pursuit of a fine, which the Alabama Supreme Court has determined to be a one-time assessment of $25,000. The Act authorizes no additional relief. “Should the City of Birmingham proceed with the removal of the monument in question, based upon multiple conversations I have had today, city leaders understand I will perform the duties assigned to me by the Act to pursue a new civil complaint against the City. “In the aftermath of last night’s violent outbreak, I have offered the City of Birmingham the support and resources of my office to restore peace to the City.”
Setting aside there is such thing as the Alabama Monuments Preservation Act (which is a huge ask I know).
This is probably the best most realistic outcome.
I am going to fucking scream
Trying to understand your stance. You're saying you would've preferred he didn't go to the park to ask them to disperse?
Backing the police away while that kind of behavior was going on, was the wrong move. I mean I guess it’s good that he tried, but once they didn’t disperse, the police presence should have been heavy. I guess I don’t understand what he expected, they were swinging sledgehammers in the park, while he was there. Yet you don’t expect them to swing those same sledgehammers at glass windows and store fronts?
That was a quick 27K
Damn, someone donated $9216
Holy shit that went quick
Is there something about that specific number an unwashed mass like myself is unaware of
Might have been how short it was of $25k.
This is accurate
A few stragglers at the park tonight.
This guy appears to be ready for protesting, looting, or LARPing
Nice ponytail, Sam
Aren't the Hawaiian shirts supposed to be the uniform of some alt-right group? Lyrtch would likely know.
I think that guy was arrested.
In my experience Britt demo knows their shit, this shouldn’t take long
They’re going to preserve it. It’s 115 years old.
Probably don't wanna mess up the monument.
Probably already got a spot waiting for it back in Cullman.
Isn’t it already fucked up
Best view so far
This is scary:
Protest at Mtn. Brook City hall has grown 5x tonight from last night.
No signs of looting. Mobley & Sons is ok.
Homewood protest looked to be well attended but was dispersing by the time I went by the park.
Last night it was just Doug Jones daughter and her husband. They had about 8 friends tonight with signs.
Surprised they have eight friends...
I have literally fantasized about doing that. Good for that person.
I‘ve always thought someone should start a go fund me to buy the closest piece of dirt available and raise a massive gay pride flag right next to it.
We got some Hoover mugshots.
Spike 80DF are you one of these?
I heard he got arrested trying to burn down a BWW
That was a misunderstanding, he ordered “Blazin’” wings, extra crispy” with a raised eyebrow and the waiter interpreted it as a threat.
