Crest Road is the coolest street in Birmingham.
purposely go down it frequently when i get the kids from daycare. i love that area.
I'm glad AL.com noted that they also took a digital camera and a fucking cooler.
I legitimately can't think of many things dumber than stealing a cooler
except for having the person you kidnap wire money to your account
“Pre-chilling” said stolen cooler.
It's going to be funny when it turns out he hired a hooker and her boyfriend showed up to kidnap/rob him.
I mean, that’s exactly what happened, right? That or drugs.
That’s why I thought it was interesting he had Spina, the highest profile defense attorney in town, issue a statement and ask for privacy.
I kind of get hiring Spina because he deals with high profile criminal stuff and has relationships with prosecutors, cops, FBI agents, etc. and can probably lobby them better than someone who doesn't. And, if he really just wanted privacy and for the prosecution to go smoothly for him, that would be helpful.
Any recs on a car wash/car detail place? I wanna get the works. Inside, outside, shampoo the carpet, wax/buff, all that stuff. Anthonys seems pricey, worth it though? I'll hang up and listen. Thanks
i went to anthony's recently. it was expensive. they did a good job though.
I'm about to take the plunge on this, too. There's a good thread on Bham reddit with a few recs I wasn't familiar with (Hispanic man whose name I can't remember now, but whose clientele was pretty impressive), and I've heard Mtn Brk Mobile Detailing is good.
best appliance repair guy? got a dryer not drying. needs a heating element replaced.
this is a reminder to take apart your dryer and vacuum out all the lint. had about a trash bag full in the dryer that came with my house (samsung front loader) and I hadn't gotten around to cleaning it out. Of course the backed up lint tripped the thing out.
If it's an old school dryer, they are super easy to do. Also, if it is, and you don't want to DIY, Lewie's is just fine. They have one ex Whirlpool engineer who works for them who's super solid
it's a newish samsung.
Ahhh gotcha. I don't have a rec for the newer things, but Lewie's was always quickest to get me scheduled even before I really knew what they did. Might be worth a try if you're in the city or near OTM.
Does he do ovens?
Hey, sorry...I don't have notifications on for TMB. I'm not sure? They sell them, so maybe. They are the store that's right by 31st St N on 20/59. They mostly resell "reconditioned" old appliances, but they also do repair. I bought a washer from them when my last one crapped out b/c I like old Whirlpools (they are very easy to work on and parts are cheap).
How difficult is it to get middle of the road home owners insurance to replace your roof?
Why does it need to be replaced?
I went to Lewies website and it says.
In-home service is available only if we delivered the appliance to your residence. Service is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The service technician will call on the scheduled day, verify the information and get any specific directions. The service truck is fully stocked to handle most repairs, unless a specialty part is needed.
Combination of shotty craftsmanship and reaching the end of its useful life. There is some slight damage from wind and tree limbs. The damage isn’t material enough for the insurance to sign off on it according to the quote man who just left and quoted the job at $11k. Woof.
If it’s just bc it’s at the end of its life insurance won’t cover it. That being said unless you live in a mansion $11k is fucking stupid if just replacing shingles and possibly a few boards. Check with Cardinal and Duke roofing, they usually have good pricing. Get multiple quotes regardless. All modes of construction and home improvement groups are slammed right now and just making up numbers
No policy covers shoddy craftsmanship or wear and tear, so don't mention that to the adjuster. Your best bet is to ride the wind/tree limb angle. Get estimates from other companies until someone is willing to take that position.
Making claims after a major weather event in the area might help.
not true. my tech is on the way today.
$240 to replace the heating element. definitely gonna teach myself to do it next time. i just got scared.
how's that monday night brewing spot
If it was in trimtab's location I would go multiple times a week. I've been twice close to when they first opened. Parking was shitty as it's tucked back in there. Covid hasn't really helped the service situation either. We had to be at a table to get service, once seated you could order on an app and they would bring food/beer to your table. That was good except you had to close your tab and insert your card info each round of drinks. There was a roving server who could help you and give you a tab but I wanted to drink faster than she could help us. Food/beer is legit and assume it will continue to improve.
Any good rec's for someone to hang a tv? Been going thru this app thumbtack and keep getting stood up or guys being so late that we have to cancel.
I’ve used “We Mount TVs” twice. It seemed expensive to me, but they did everything perfectly.
Not knocking anyone but what’s the difficult part of mounting a tv?
I didn't want any wires showing so I had to have two holes cut and plates installed as well as a power outlet installed behind the TV. I mean, I'm sure I could have done it watching a few youtube videos, but I'm also a lazy fuck.
My 2nd install was in a brick wall outside on the porch so I didn't go to the trouble of getting a concrete drill bit and whatnot.
I hired an electrician to install my plug and help me fish wires but the rest is fair. I’d rather pay a little extra for solid mount with a built in leveler and save money overall doing it myself
I did buy my own nice mount. That cut down on the cost of the install a bit.
Live in apartment and mounting outside on my balcony. First off don't want to do it and also don't want to fuck anything up.
you’re just self conscious about it being mounted crooked on the balcony in front of God and everyone else aren’t you
My girlfriend is pretty against the TV on the balcony so if I fuck up the install on top of that I won't hear the end of it.
Girls just wanna not have fun sometimes
Monday night’s aight. Feels like it’s trying a little hard (decor and other accessories remind me of like topgolf) but has a decent outside area and beer is solid
They are great all A/V stuff.
quick where can i go to pick up a casserole. bringing one over to a friend that had a baby

Hey Stone Cold Steve Austin . Someone told me recently that the city is building a dog park in the open lots near your house. Can you confirm? Have you heard that anywhere? I know they were doing some work there a few weeks ago but haven't seen anything since.
I’ve heard the same thing but nothing definitive.
I don’t believe the work they’re doing now has anything to do with it. I think it’s spire running more gas lines.
