Last night was fun. Atomic, then awesome dinner at Helen, then closed down Neon Moon. Neon Moon was wild
I hope the round table becomes a real Podcast. Once you get used to skipping through commercials it’s hard to tolerate terrestrial radio and an ad break every 5 minutes.
So it appears they are creating their own platform. Which is much cooler than joining Outkick or whatever. Good for them. I didn't think they had it in them and I wish they had done it 5 years earlier, but I will be a listener.
Hope they get everything going quick. They picked a good time though as I’m sure it will be finished by fall camp
Damn. August isn’t too much of a break. I wonder if they’re trying to get more of a national audience - really just what motivated them to do this. Seems like it would be more work at a time when most people would want less.
Caught the tail end of an interview on 3 Man Front yesterday morning between Cubelic and Conrad Thompson. Thompson is a mortgage guy in Huntsville that used to do spots on Cubelic’s show up here. He started doing wrestling podcasts and now is apparently a big name in the wrestling world and makes a ton of money. Anyway, Cubelic asked him, completely off topic, how long it took him to make “real money” doing the podcasts. The way he asked the question made it sound like he doesn’t believe in whatever the Round Table guys are doing. Thought it was really weird and definitely seemed like he was taking a shot.
The LPOTL guys said you need about 500 dedicated patreon followers to make it your main source of income as a single person with no responsibilities
Fucking Matt McClearin and Landrum Roberts for the 10-2. Gross. I don’t have an issue with Landon, but McClearin is God awful. I hope this shit isn’t permanent.
I am pumped to finally have a butcher shop near me. Love the Pig on Clairmont but their meat selection ain’t great.
Snapper Grabbers in Vestavia is right by my house but man they had some really good fresh seafood. Did scaloops, grouper and flounder on the grill on Saturday and it was fantastic. I know some of the guys involved with Son of a Butcher. Looking forward to giving them some business.
Between living in Cahaba Heights and now Vestavia proper, I’ve been pretty pleased with NY Butcher/Sextons/Pig and Snapper Grabbers.
I’ll echo the love for Snapper Grabbers. Great seafood and great lunches (that spicy potato salad with the fried shrimp is the shit). Snakes and The Blackfish what has your opinion of the Backyard Market been? I love having a close place to drink beers, but I’m always let down by their food. I find it’s overpriced and generally not very good. Still end up there about every other week because of the convenience.
Haven’t been. Just figure that spot is cursed. Was right by it today dropping my lawn mower off at Bob’s and didn’t go in.
Same on Backyard Market. Was excited to have something so close, but my food and service have been less than good. Had breakfast once and they either lost my order, forgot it or never made it to kitchen. Sat there for 30 minutes before they asked what I was waiting on. Hash browns came burnt on outside, raw on inside, soggy bacon, just tasted like cafeteria breakfast. Had a burger that was ok I guess, but not special or worth price. Their system of taking orders makes no sense and I never know which checkout to go to. Sometimes you can’t find anybody to even take your order. Best thing I have had there is the things out of the freezer that they don’t make. The bbq they smoke outside on the weekends always looks pretty good so I will maybe give that a try before I give up.
Yeah, you summed it up nicely Wimbley. I want it to succeed, but Chef Leo fucking sucks and so does the ordering system. No clue why they do it like that. It’s frustrating.
we have been going to the new taco MAMA over there a lot. my kids like that astroterf area so they can just raise hell on that while we eat outside. it's nice. i really like that city center area and i think that would be a good place for a bar.
Amen. I’ve been saying a small bar would kill it. We’ve also been taking the golf cart up there frequently.
Another new hangout over here has been the pool. It’s so nice and they don’t seem to give af about smuggling in beers. Lots of dads carrying around Yeti tumblers (myself included)
I was there on Saturday afternoon and half the parents there were carrying big ass Yeti tumblers and I felt like such a schmuck with my Gatorade.
Pro tip: - Get your wife a large Bog Bag. - Get a soft cooler that holds about 6 beers - 30oz Yeti tumbler - ?????? - Profit
This is the info I pay for. My wife got a single membership because she likes to swim laps. But no alcohol was the sole reason I didn’t get a family membership. Probably will now.
