Man we were blessed with a lot of amazing matches between the big 3, but that might be the the best match I’ve seen. A shame one of them had to lose. Just an absurdly high level of tennis.
To this day I still do not understand how they can do that for 5 hours at the END of a 2 week tournament. Meanwhile nba does load management and can’t shoot hoops for more than a couple hours a week. I know bodies are breaking down in tennis over time and injuries are a huge concern with how the tours operate. But that all said I just don’t understand how they do it. especially in a sports like singles tennis where you don’t have teammates to relieve pressure for periods of time.
Going to go down as an all timer. Shot making was just absurd after 5 hours of play. I feel like sinner didn’t even do poorly in the tiebreak
Barring injury or the emergence of another player, these guys will win like 10 out of the next 12 majors
Zverev sounds like a head case who gets by on talent alone, from the rumors. He has to make a change to beat either of these two guys. I’m curious if Novak can sneak one, or maybe Medvedev. Otherwise it could be a while, barring injury.
That late 30-30 shot was one of the most insane and lucky shots I’ve probably ever seen. Absolutely perfect Sinner forehand that nobody besides Djokovic or I guess Alcaraz now could return to have any chance at the point yet he gambled and put Sinner back in a worse position. Hope he becomes the goat. Way more appealing game and personality than Djokovic to say the least
the person who was going to go with myself and my wife to the US Open had to drop out. have a 3rd ticket for Louis Armstrong. Bought it for 150 face value. would be happy to part with it for exactly that price if anyone has any interest for whatever reason
That’s some pretty good company: Youngest to earn a tour-level win on all three surfaces (since 1990) Player Age 1) Rafael Nadal 17 years, 2 months 2) Justin Engel 17 years, 8 months 3) Alexander Zverev 18 years, 1 month 4) Lleyton Hewitt 18 years, 1 month 5) Carlos Alcaraz 18 years, 1 month
This is pretty cool... https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...open-mixed-doubles-star-players/84219723007/#
I can’t remember this threads opinion but tennis purists objected to it because it took away from “actual mixed doubles” teams which is a very real category of tennis competition.
Last qualifying match of the day is Iva Jovic. Never seen her before but 17 is crazy. Then I think Andreeva has been playing big tournaments for a couple years.
