Naomi Osaka is pregnant! Makes sense why we heard very little from her in the lead up before withdrawing. Says she’ll be back playing the Aussie Open 2024.
Yeah, I know. Tilley's had his tongue so far up Djokovic ass, it's embarrassing. I get looking after the players so that they're not abused on court - that's never acceptable - but this is next level unnecessary policing. Try telling the French or NY crowds they can't boo someone they don't like.
Tilley just needs to go - he's been there too long and it's time for a change. The debacle last year with him trying to get Djoker into the country through the back door was just awful, and I'd argue it was the bad advice Tennis Australia provided to Team Novaxx that actually caused the whole shitshow that got him deported. I think there are still enough Djoker fans and crazy Serbs around that the stadium will be mostly full, but there's also going to be a lot of people rooting for his opponents. He hasn't helped himself by playing the victim over the past couple weeks.
Mens highlights Draper/Nadal Like Shapo Draw. Lajovic-Taro Daniel or Qualifier-Hurkacz. Then get destroyed by Medvedev Round 4. Meaning a Medvedev/Nadal Quarter final maybe! Medvedev gets Giron and the Korda Round 3 Tsitsipas gets Halys Round 1. Halys been in form but just lost a 1st set tiebreaker to Brooksby tonight. Might be good for him to get some rest. Sinner on deck for Tsitsipas in the ROund of 16. Kyle Edmund Round 1, then possibly Musetti Round 3. Interesting match with Norrie vs 18 year old Luca van Assche. Been watching him on the challenger tour and I like his game but Norrie might be too good for him Cool to see Eubanks get a wild card. Gets tricky Soonwoo Kwon round 1 Felix gets an absolute fantastic draw to the quarter finals. So he will fuck it up. Pospisil/Wawrinka. Norrie possible Round 4 and then Stef awaits. RUBLEV/THIEM Round 1 Like Kyrgios draw. Should not get touched until Round of 16 with possible Rublev. Rune in the Round of 3. Novak getting a dream draw of course. Carballes Baena/Qualifier or Dellien/Dimitrov/Carreno Busta or De Minaur. Then would get Kyrgios in the Quarters Also like Fritz draw. Ben Shelton could be a 3rd round opponent who gets Zhizhen Zhang. Fritz/Zverev Round 4 possible. Zverev should cake walk there. BERRETTINI/MURRAY Round 1 winner gets KOKKINAKIS/FOGNINI Top 5 Round 1 Matches Draper/Nadal Rublev/Thiem Berrettini/Murray Tsitsipas/Halys Norrie/Van Assche
Womens Highlights Swiatek Quarter is HELL! Swiatek/Niemer Round 1 Bibi gets draw of hell. Bouzkova Round 1, she didn't look good yesterday against Blinkov then Qualifier. Then Bibi/Swiatek Round 3! Badosa/McNally Round 1 Coco/Radacanu Round 2 possibility Then maybe Coco/Swiatek Quarterfinals. So many other good names in this draw. Insane Like the draw for Pegula and Anisimova to meet in Round 3 Keys draws Blinkova. Shes playing well right now but might be out of gas come the Aussie. Kenin/Azarenka Round 1 Sakkari/Tecihman ROund 3 Towsend/Diana Parry. 2 Wildcards Leylah/Alize Cornet Round 1 winner gets Caroline Garcia Lets go!
Vika-Kenin is a killer 1R. Yastremska-Penko going to be a slugfest. Mertens-Garbine a fun one. If Fabio shows up to play heel, Kokkinakis-Fognini could be a show.
Speaking of fognini, he may be retiring. Apparently he said good bye to crowd in New Zealand as if he was.
Diana Shnaider qualifies into the main draw for singles, beat Robin Montgomery in QR2. From Russia, plays at NC State. Made SF's of US Open junior girls last year. Plays a fun, aggressive lefty game.
24 year old Canadian Katherine Sebov qualified for her 1st major. She was on fire in qualifiers. She was the one that beat Noskova. She gets drawn to Caroline Garcia however
Yeah, I thought she just forfeited her Adelaide semi because she was gassed from that match. Must have done some damage in the latter stages - that's disappointing.
Lloyd Harris making the finals in a Thailand Challenger and then having to take a 9 hour flight seems like a lot and have to play Monday night.
Little Lauren Davis also gets her first title in 6 years. Mind blowing to think she is 29 years old now.
I think people need to realise that, like it or not, this is what happens in lead-up tournaments for a slam. Yes, it's nice to see the big names go the whole week, but a lot of the time, they're just there for a bit of match practice and they'll pull the plug when they think they need to. Sadly, in Badosa's case, it didn't work out as planned.
Anyone check out the Netflix series yet? Watched first few eps. Nice to see some behind the scenes stuff. Target audience is definitely non tennis people. A lot of Paul Annacone insights which is cool.
Not yet, queued up to watch it with my wife. Saw lot of the tennis people on Twitter shitting on it. That doesn’t sway my opinion and still looking forward to watching it and getting a different/unique insight.
I can see where people would have issues with it. They manufacture some stuff the same way they do on the F1 show. So if you’re really into tennis you would probably pick up on what they did but casual fans wouldn’t.
Im interested in that Coco/Siniakova match. Siniakova is such a tricky player, great defense. Dont want Coco to get flustered
Raducanu and Korpatsch swap breaks to start. Keeping an eye on that one with Emma coming in with an injury.
thought it started tomorrow night . always enjoy this Major the most. Mostly bc it is opposite seasons
