So a little really crazy story here. I was at a charity celebrity golf tournament last weekend at sawgrass. Smoking my cigar and an actor (probably B list but you would know him from almost every tv show) came and sat next to me and we started chatting. He’s a huge tennis fan and always in the box for the US open. He was surprised how much tennis I knew. And I told him I bet on it all day everyday and he became even more fascinated. He goes, we need to get you on the tennis channel talking about the gambling stuff. I was like yeah okay being sarcastic. He came back with seriously, he called the Chanda Rubin and told her the idea. And then called the president of TC. They seemed a little encouraged but they want to talk and discuss things after Wimbledon. Still in awe and think it’s crazy
I'd be surprised - Rublev's always impressed me with his consistency. He doesn't generally lose to lower players.
Ruby been in cruise control since Monte Carlo… in my opinion. Djere has flashed some good stuff on clay this year but I assume Rublev is really determined to make his mark in a slam after winning his first masters event. I think Djere is dangerous, so I reluctantly used Rub in just 1 parlay. Futures I took: Jarry 150/1 - Rune/Ruud/Fritz/Paul top seeds in his quarter. He can beat all those guys(but won’t need to beat ALL of them) and his form is peaking. If he can serve as cleanly as he did at Geneva, he will surprise people. And he plays a ton of long matches. Extra sets won’t be a problem. Coric 110/1. Realistically his tournament shouldn’t start until the third round. Worst case opponent for him in third round is DeMinaur who isn’t scaring anyone right now. 4th round likely medvedev, who is scary right now, but it’s a match up Coric is comfortable with (4-3 W-L record overall). If he can make it out of his section I expect/hope his quarterfinal match up will be against… Jannick Sinner, who I took 11/1. If you’ve read any posts I’ve made in this thread you know I love Jannick, with good health he can be a slam winner. don’t necessarily love his path here because he could have tricky R2 and 3 matchups with Altmaier then Dimitrov. But after that it’s likely Zverev or Tiafoe in R4, he is probably a decent favorite in either way. Last bet. Yibing Wu 2000/1. ($10 to win $20,000). Made it for the good vibes. Love this dude. He has come through a lot for me as a dog this season. His path is basically impossible, but this is what I’m leaving at the alter of the the gambling gods. Day 1 bets: Linette +100 vs Fernandez Evans -125 vs Kokkinakis Kubler +135 vs Diaz Acosta Isner +210 vs Borges Parlay pieces Albot Sabalenka Carballes Baena Rublev Sonego Giorgi Schevchenko Begu Pegula Sherif
Yep. That 6-4 point when he had the easy cross court winner. After that it was all Stef in that tiebreaker
Nava reminds a little of Shapovalov in terms of playing style. All gas no brakes. Which leads to many dumb errors
He’s really fun. Beating Millman last year at the US Open in five was really impressive, just hit bombs and outlasted a guy that loves to grind. Kinda think he’s going to be a Tommy Paul type where it’s going to take a little longer to actualize into a legit tour level player week to week.
Thats a good comparison. Ive been watching him on the Challenger tour. He caught my eye about a year ago on the Challenger Tour that was being played in Kazakstahn. It was back to back weeks there and he won the first week and lost in the Semis the week after.
BTW if you want to know why there are so many young Italians going on right now, Italy has the Challenger tour on lock. There is almost a tournament every week in Italy which leads to these guys getting points young.
Much, much better from Ben. Thumping that serve instead of trying to spot up with it making a huge difference.
