Borna Coric tests positive, as did Grigor’s coach and Novak’s physio. Other players have tested negative. Novak refused to get tested there and travelled home to Serbia before getting tested, because he had no symptoms...
Another Adria Tour player, Viktor Troicki, tests positive. His wife, who is pregnant, also is positive. Novak’s test results supposed to be back tomorrow.
Wertheim mentioned yesterday there’s already been some talk of trying to get him off the players council.
LOL, good. Keep him kicking soccer balls with Monfils. Great tennis player, gigantic douchebag and extremely stupid.
Women’s event from Charleston, SC starting now on TC. Today’s OOP: Sofia Kenin-Ali Riske Emma Navarro-Leylah Fernandez Danielle Collins-Amanda Anisimova Ajla Tomjanovic-Shelby Rogers
It’s an exho team tournament for charity. Partnership with the people that usually put on the Volvo Car Open and Tennis Channel. https://www.volvocaropen.com/credit-one-bank-invitational/
Hard to say anything other than no, but I do like all four of the young guys, Paul and Fritz especially.
Chris Eubanks, filling in for Tiafoe, does everyone a favor and beats Tennys Sandgren. I still think there’s a good player there in Eubanks.
Going to be interesting. Roger hurt, Rafa seemingly not coming. Kyrgios seemingly not coming. Halep skeptical. Barty skeptical. That's a lot of star power on the sidelines.
I think there's too much money on the line for them not to make an attempt at it. But I go back and forth every day. The recklessness of Novak's tournament and the lax protocols of the Atlanta mens event didn't help. Notably, the women's events have been extremely well run and handled well. WTA players taking to handling protocols better than the men. The lower ranked players in the draw really need this and other tournaments to happen. Were already scraping by as it was. ~$50k for first round at the Open is a life saver for some players.
Novak undecided on playing US Open. "I still haven't decided whether I will play in the US Open, the upsurge in registered COVID-19 cases in the United States and New York in particular are not playing into the event's hands," added Djokovic, who was back in training on Tuesday with Troicki. https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_...aims-was-subject-witch-hunt-adria-tour-fiasco
I think a lot of their revenue is derived from fans in the seats. Do you think they will alter prize money payouts. I would guess just ad sales and tv money is really all they are looking at. No concessions, tickets, limited merch etc.
Yes, between qualifications and the event it's the most attended sporting event in the world. Between the $18 Honey Duece and $15 chicken fingers I think they make a decent penny on concessions alone. Dont forget about the $7 Dasini as you are melting with the sun baking off the pavement.
I believe the USTA said the total prize pool is $53M for this year's event, down from $57M last year.
We've been spoiled by how great Rafa and Fed have been helming the men's tour and as stewards of the game. Not that they have been perfect by any means, but still. Novak continues to...not come close to that level.
