Its nice to watch Top Tier Tennis again. Those 2 months, I was watching and betting on some awful tennis.
Humbert took down Medvedev. Humbert looked the part two years ago but last year seemed like he took that gigantic French back step. Hopefully this springs him forward some, he’s fun to watch when he’s on.
Hes one of those guys that gets hot and will make the Aussie Quarters and then not get past the 2nd round in Indian Wells/Miami
Im very excited how Sebastian Baez does on the hard courts after a crazy clay court run at the end of the year
Leylah starts her season with a great win over Alexandrova. #263 Priscilla Hon comes from a set down to beat Kvitova, and what a point this was.
So Djokovic gets a medical exemption for Australian Open. Would love to know how this played out. 1. Serious medical issue. If he wasn’t a world class athlete in like top .0001 shape on the planet earth this might make sense. 2. Paid off some Aussies.
Australian Open is going to have to explain themselves because that feels like some bullshit and Aussies have sacrificed so much just for an entitled athlete like Novak to get preferential treatment.
I've read, through unofficial sources, that there were four or five exemptions. Now this is alleged, with the caveat being that it's private and down to the player to disclose this information. Smells like shit to me. Another theory I read was that Novak had his medical files manipulated in Serbia as having some long standing condition. This is one I was not expecting. I honestly assumed he would just pay someone off to say he had the shot or shoot it into someone else.
You are 100% right - this is absolute fucking bullshit and the Australian public won't buy this garbage, especially those in Melbourne that put up with well over 100 days in lockdown.
Believe they’re hoping for full capacity, but the crowds have been non-existent pretty much at the tournaments going on now down there
This is all I've seen myself: "Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said Djokovic was just one of 26 applicants who applied for an exemption, of whom only a "handful" were successful. The ATAGI guidelines were clear on which circumstances were required to be granted a medical exemption, Mr Tiley said. These narrow circumstances included having had a previous anaphylactic reaction to a vaccine, having just had major surgery, and having had COVID-19 during the past six months, he added. Mr Tiley said names were redacted during the exemption process ensuring no officials knew they were assessing Djokovic's application." Load of horseshit that I don't believe a word of. He's forced them into giving him this exemption, probably through threatening never to return to the AO if it wasn't granted. Anyone that's been following what his dickhead father has been saying knows EXACTLY what's going on.
As the guy sarcastically said in SC's video, who knew that Djokovic has had this underlying medical condition for the past 20 years of dominating most of the men's tour!
Okay that’s the other piece I was reading about today and referenced up top. And to echo what I said up top, a handful were approved and they cite privacy is bullshit. That’s a complete cop out. I’d hope the anti-vax of the handful would speak out regarding their exemption. Either out yourself as a fucking moron or help people to understand why they can’t get it. Might help save a life, you don’t need a monumental cause because you have a platform. You can absolutely be anti vax if it would kill you but still support masks and vaccines, it’s not hard. But I suspect we won’t hear from Q-Tip or the other martyrs.
