He has choked multiple times this morning. Had him broken and nearly dead a few times only to hand it right back.
sucks for him, he knows he choked it, but he has to be happy with the trajectory of his game. Still more room for improvement with his footwork and backhand. And serve too.
And volley as well, lol. But yeah he plays like this against all but a few people he’s going to have a great year.
Yeah, not totally unexpected - it just came a match earlier than I thought. Great result for Iga, though - she should carve Kanepi up like a Thanksgiving turkey and has to be the red hot favourite for the final on her side.
Cressy of all players giving Medvedev his toughest test in a while is interesting. Serve and volley lives again, I suppose.
Just watched that entire first set of Cilic/FAA, Cilic was absolutely destroying the ball in the 1st set. It was unreal.
It will still be standard local start. 1030 eastern at the quickest. Also quoted you in the other post thinking it was the tennis thread.
Wouldn’t be womens tennis without it. Krejcikova is a wreck, won’t be long. Really really impressed with Keys though. Kind of like we talked all year how deep the women were and Keys didn’t even flash. It’s absurd how much talent there is.
Her mental game is so much better than it used to be. Hitting bombs and playing free, aggressive tennis.
Wow, 2 breaks up and serving for the match. That's friggin' impressive. And sorry that's a further indictment on the WTA ranking system - how is Keys not in the Top 30?
Yeah, got upset Bernardes didn’t give Rafa a time violation. Called him corrupt, which ticked Carlos off. Denis was still giving him shit the next game, so Rafa went to the net and made him say it to his face. Seems to have shut Shapo up lol, though he is playing better.
Nadal not even playing well. Spinning tons of forehands shallow into the court. Shapo is just playing terribly so far.
Happy Nadal won but he really did very little to win the fifth set. Denis was just spraying the ball everywhere.
Very pleased Rafa came out on top. I like his passion and competitiveness, but it seems Denis still has a bit of growing up to do after that unnecessary rant early on.
Well that's just ridiculous. I thought Barty would win comfortably, but that's just scary. I actually feel sorry for Pegula after that smashing.
"It's just so frustrating as a player. You feel like you're not just playing against the player - you're playing against the umpires, you're playing against so much more. "I just think it's super difficult and super frustrating as an athlete to go up against all of this." Asked if Nadal receives preferential treatment from umpires, Shapovalov didn't hold back. "Of course. One-hundred per cent he does," he said. "One-hundred per cent. Oh Denis, please stop digging that hole. Just take your licks and get ready for the next event - this is making you look terrible, son.
What the hell happened during that Krygios doubles match that they started getting all pissed off and throwing rackets?
Was this when Nick hit the kid in the crowd on an unnecessary overhead after the point was over or something else?
Didn't see it but what I read, the crowd was out of control. I'd like to try and catch their next match but times still TBD.
Maybe Shapo didn’t come of right not he’s not wrong, Rafa always takes too long between points and goes the serve clock and nothing happens
