Currently watching the delayed telecast of Ruud-Cilic (in Utah) and the effort by security in getting rid of that stupid bitch was pitiful. They were just standing around with no one wanting to approach her. Bad enough she got on court in the first place, but that was pissweak - took over 6 mins to remove her. Can't think that would have happened at the other majors.
Cosign the lead tape. I'm playing with a Wilson clash pro 100 right now, but had to add tape at the top of the frame to increase the swing weight.
Leylah has a grade 3 stress fracture in her foot that she played through, and will almost certainly miss Wimbledon at minimum.
Based on her fathers response in trying to shut her down, I’d imagine it was there to a lesser degree before the match.
Either I heard or read it but before today’s result she already had more points than any other woman did last year.
My one iga story is in 2019 I met her and had to announce her name to kids in a space she was coming to. She tired telling me her name like 6 times for me to repeat it back to her and I didn’t do a great job and eventually she laughed and said I was close enough. I apologized for being an American who can’t pronounce European words. And she was absolutely great interacting with kids. Made me a fan.
Man, that is such bullshit - the WTA rankings are just crap. I don't even rate Kontaveit in the Top 5 and she's certainly not the #2 player in the world. Edit: I've just looked at the rest of the new Top 10 and, well, it's not that great IMO. 1. Swiatek 2. Kontaveit 3. Badosa - too high, has done nothing in slams 4. Jabeur - ditto, she lost in R1 FFS 5. Sakkari - still living off LY's US Open 6. Sabalenka - massive problems with her game ATM 7. Pliskova - been injured, so no problem 8. Collins - yep, made the AO final, no probs 9. Pegula - maybe slightly high but not far off 10. Muguruza - about right even though she lost R1
Badically what he’s been dealing with since the French last year. I have a major fear he’s going to retire because of how bad his foot has become.
I forget who said it but the bone in his foot is basically dying. At some point (and we may already be there), it’s going to become a quality of life issue for Rafa post-tennis
Gonna be real weird with 3/4 all time greats (including Serena) probably retiring this year and only being left with the least likeable one of the group
Well that's a nice result to see after a very long day on the road. I thought he'd win, but what a smashing.
Im going to complain about something small here. Watching the Challenger Tour and its in Orlando. At the USTA campus. No ball kids. ITF events is one thing and this is held at the USTA headquarter and they can't get any ball kids. Find it a bad look
Are they doing the thing where they leave a box by the back fence to keep the extra balls in? Keep in mind tournament winnings for these events are basically nothing. I don't know how players survive on that tour. For example, Total prize money for the Orlando event is $106k.
No they just roll the balls to the back fence. It just very strange to me. Ive watched a lot of challenger tennis this year and I would say 85% of the tournaments have ball kids. Hell I watched a tournament a couple weeks ago, I think it was Sarasota and they had old men doing to the balls. It was slower but so much better. These guys hit in a ball in the net, and they have to go get and pass it back. Like this is the fucking headquarter of USTA and I find it pretty sad.
It makes you understand how much match fixing is in the lower tournaments. Like to me its CRAZY. I made more money on Adrian Andreev winning his 2nd qualifying match than he did playing it
Yeah its absurd. Some of my college teammates tried to make a run on the futures tour, its brutal. Winnings can cover your food for the week if you're lucky. The parents of the kids I teach all think their kid is going to make it. I try to be realistic and explain that even of the top 800 on the planet, only 60 of them really make it as a living.
Everytime I start watching this Orlando tournament, I get mad with no ball people. Literally first serve into the net and the guy has to go move the ball
