I dunno - I think he's got some friends playing pretty bad tennis this week. Plenty of time to get it together though.
True. But it was rough to watch. I lost big on him. Took him when he was up a break in the 2nd. Then started to watch and you could just tell Felix was way off
Just watched Poland win the mixed doubles to beat Italy & go through to the semis of the UC. And my goodness, Iga was just ridiculous - she was going toe to toe with the Italian guy and outrallying him half the time. It's been a long while since I've seen such a dominant female player.
The level of this mixed dubs between Greece and Croatia is sky high. Stef and Sakkari took the first in a TB. Winner of the mixed wins the overall match and advances.
Had to give it away at midnight (Aussie time), but I'm not surprised to see Greece won. It's mostly a pretty strong semi line-up... and Italy.
Won his first two matches. Yesterday he lost to 194 ranked player in the world. Took the first 7-5. He then proceeded to get bageled in the second, looks like he put minimal effort in the third.
Noskova followed that up by beating Vika 6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6) to make the SF’s in Adelaide. Kid is legit.
Djokovic Medvedev, nice to wake up to live. Korda gets the winner tomorrow in the final. also Townsend lost to Anisimova this morning. I didn’t think Taylor traveled outside the US ever.
I was wrong about Townsend.no idea what I was thinking. Korda hasn’t dropped a set yet. Murray, RBA Sinner and Nishioka today. Dioker tomorrow morning.
I’d imagine it’s down to venue size or something, but why not just make that a 1000 to kick the season off? Or, if you want 250s to get everyone court time, fine, throw in another 1000 after the slam.
#1 They've always pushed these teams events that first week (Hopman Cup now United Cup) Then usually the big players dont play in the 2nd week to get the rest for the Aussie Open.
Saba is on something else right now. Awesome to see her comeback after 1 year ago when she had the Yips. Would love to see her win the Aussie
Noskova reminding me of Bibi year when she she went on a run Week 1 before losing in the finals. But her ranking was too low for the main draw so she still has to go through qualifying for the Aussie Open. Noskova jumping to Top 60 with a loss and Top 45 with a win and still has to deal with qualifying next week
Korda looks fantastic. Took Novak two TBs, won one and then dropped third 6-4. 3 hours, watch the replay if it’s on today.
Yeah he was as much as I hate him. I started watching in the first about mid way and I honestly thought korda was going to fold like 25-30 times. In the first set, but he didn’t he just hung in there and put pressure on. Like you said, Djokovic had to hit some absurd shit to win that, but it definitely was not because Korda folded. I was impressed.
When Korda serving for set point up 40 love then joker fired back and broke him I figured Korda was done. Was impressed he even won that set in tie break.
Honestly last thing I expected this morning, wasn’t even mad he lost. Just happy it happened and he isn’t a complete mental midget.
Sloane wearing what looks to be Free People -- same brand that Kenin is with. Guess her Nike deal ended.
Got to love the way draws set up. Someone pulled out of Adelaide 2. So Kwon lost in the qualies last night to Machac. He gets the lucky loser. And he gets drawn to play Machac again today. 2 matches against each in other 24 hours
17 year old Linda Fruhvirtova is #79. Her younger sister, Brenda, is 15 years old and #136 and is in the 2nd round of qualifying. Was down 5-7 1-5 and just stormed back to take the 2nd set.
I watched a couple games of that match. She was hitting the ball really nice. I really hope she turns the corner.
Didn’t watch the end of it, but saw she won the 3rd. You can see she’s got game, but the power very overwhelms her
