Linesman called a foot fault on Med before he served but the chair overruled it because technically it can’t be a foot fault until the server actually hits the ball.
Always love when you see medvedev miss a shot live. Always think, damn that was unlucky. Then they show the replay in slow motion and you realize 99.99999% of humans couldn’t even get to that ball in the first place.
I don't see any way in the frickin' world that Rublev can beat Daniil, which probably means he will. But seriously, it's good to have the real Medvedev back, instead of that guy from last year (though we pretty much all know why).
Not being obtuse, why? He started decent and picked up an injury but ended one? Also I absolutely love both Russians. I agree with you, Rublev is going to get rolled on.
Just the fact he had an eventful year by his standards, whether it be injuries, the war (which would have impacted him mentally in a big way) and I think he started a family too? No surprise his play dropped off a bit.
Wait, Willy, are we talking about the same person? I was referring to 2022 Med vs this year's version.
I know how you feel, brother - I played the winning singles for my team today and I am still buzzing.
Thrilled for Kostyuk. She’s going to win a bunch of these. Totally understand why, but that was one of the strangest finishes and trophy ceremonies in a while. No handshake, no mention of each other in their speeches, no joint pictures.
Indian Wells has a problem with these automatic hawk eye lines calls. Watching Sousa/Misolic. Sousa hit an Ace. Was called out. He starts getting very mad. They go to the replay the ball was so far in, it never even touched the line
Riedi serving for the match, Michelsen breaks him and gets the tiebreaker. Riedi was not happy with Michelsen screaming after he won the tiebreaker
don’t care for the sideshow he created a year ago but it is stupid that Djokovic played in Australia a few months ago and as of right now won’t be allowed to play here
Considering an American can choose not to be vaccinated and travel around the world, I completely agree. I realize they may be restricted in certain countries, but they will not be prevented from reentry.
In principle, I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense. That said... the US have specifically stated that they're changing the rules in April/May so that you can now enter the country unvaxxed, and I don't care WHO you are but you work around the government's timetable, not the opposite. If that means Novax misses a couple more tournaments, well, that's on his head - everyone else there got jabbed.
Buby w a horrible performance, just like old times. Much preferred todays matches to tomorrow’s but Murray vs TM Etcheverry could be fun. Expect Murray to roll but Etcheverry may have some confidence after closing out the Golden Swing on a high note.
Yep, this is where I’m at. Is it dumb that a couple weeks difference and nothing else is the reason Novak won’t be playing IW and Miami? Yes. Do I have any sympathy whatsoever for Novak’s antivax bullshit coming home to roost one last time? Sure don’t.
Interested to see what Brandon Holt has for Thanasi. JJ-Fucsovics could be interesting too on these slower courts. No idea what to expect from Raducanu, but she badly could use a win today for any sort of positive momentum.
Exactly. Losing in straight sets on a Hard Court to Galfi in USA is really bad. If she lost in straight sets on Clay to someone like Galfi, Ill give the benefit of the doubt
One of my friends was speculating she was tired from her run in Austin. I explained I hope she isn’t tired from that, her last match was 4-5 days ago and it’s not long travel. Galfi didn’t play great, she just kept balls in play whereas Collins literally returned some into the stands
