yes - I was there and it was probably 60/40 Novak. the crowd was very sleepy the 1st set but really woke up in the 2nd. 3rd was obviously a bit of a let down.
But this is the time of year where guys like FAA ramp up because the actual good players usually aren’t really as locked in
that's the great thing. we don't have to wait until April and the Masters. We get major tennis right after the holidays. And obviously there are some cool end of year tournaments and ATP Finals. But I'll just check in on those, won't really watch.
I don’t know what it is but those ugly colored courts with the blacked out audience is really depressing to me. I cannot watch any of that shit.
You got to remember that one tournament coming up, the ball kids using fishing nets to get the balls.
Speaking of which, sucks that St Petersburg is done. That was biggest Euro trash event I have ever seen in my life and I miss it. Massive production and theatrics, the women look uncomfortable and then get settled in for the match and like 13 people are in the crowd.
That’s where I first saw Medvedev play and I famously posted in this thread that he was a serve bot with temper problems and would never do anything.
Pretty depressing seeing Davis Cup ties played in empty, cavernous arenas like Switzerland-France right now.
They had 51 blood samples of hers, holy shit. Also wonder why they care so much? I personally could care less if anything I watch has juiced participants. 51 samples is fucking ridiculous and can’t believe that level is required.
Serena, notably, has 7 Wimbledon titles. Lost her latest chance at an 8th at the hands of...Simona Halep.
They need to. Playing a mile above sea level two weeks after a slam then flying to China or Japan for the Asia swing immediately after is scheduling malpractice by the WTA.
From the report. "Player would have needed to ingest 5000 times the recomended 10g serving size of MCT in order to produce the estimated concentrations of roxadustat in her sample."
Tiafoe lets down his own country. Not sure what it means to be honest, match ends in TB, point awarded through penalty.
So I’ve been out of the country and haven’t followed much the last couple days, it seems like consensus on Twitter, halep knowingly doped
Don't want to overreact too much to post-US Open results, but Emma Navarro 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 over Maria Sakkari feels notable for both players. Wow. Good for Emma.
The service point? It's a tough one - the fault call was basically at the same time Tiafoe hit the ball, but I can still see why he was pissed. Really poor match awareness to give away the match point with a penalty, though.
Yeah to me it’s the right call on the service call. and I do get the players frustrations because it is a judgement call.
Stolen from Reddit. Know it happens every time which is why we have some funky results. There's only 12 days between wimbledon 2024 final and the start of the Olympic games and after that, only 15 days until the start of 2024 USO.
15 days for the us open qualifying. 22 days for the main draw. But you’ll have Toronto and Cincinnati in between the Olympics and us Open
