Frances Quinlan from Hop Along releasing a solo album in late January, first single is called Rare Thing Spoiler
Kevin Parker confirmed Tame Impala will release an album in 2020. It'll be called The Slow Rush no date provided. Hopefully it's more like Innerspeaker/Lonerism than Currents. I enjoyed Currents but really loved those first two albums https://www.stereogum.com/2062753/tame-impala-announce-new-album-the-slow-rush/news/ I've been listening to that new Black Marble a bunch this week, really nice early morning music
100% I stumbled upon Dungen’s Ta Det Lugnt the other day...seriously thought it was some older Tame Impala EP or something. Came out in 2003
bands don't usually go backwards after gaining more popularity while still being critically acclaimed, and the recent singles sounded an awful lot like Currents to me well I know what I'm downloading today
if you enjoy that you should check out their first two albums. they definitely stick with their sound, but it all really clicks with me(and doesnt feel redundant) and I really enjoy listening to all of them
Watching Ex Hex at a music festival here, and they are burning the place down in the rain. I adore them. Waxahatchie up in a few.
I am close to one side of the speakers for their set, and may be deaf already. They are rocking the shit out of this. New tunes sound great.
that outro for Du Är För Fin För Mig not gonna lie, the ridiculousness of typing that name out was a huge motivating factor for this post, but the sentimental folksy vibe with the slightly psychedelic instrumentation and those beautiful strings leading to that kick ass outro was nice
So Damn Good ashy how'd you find these guys, this thing has 300 views and I'm literally the first thumbs up on it
heard it playing at a hipster coffee shop but apparently it achieved acclaim when we were all in middle school listening to nelly
So did you pull out Shazam or something or go ask an employee what song was playing? I love being in a store and hearing a song I know and then approaching an employee to let them know how good their taste in music is. They're always like yeah someone else put this on or yeah this is just a standard playlist we randomly choose on Spotify. But I keep rolling with it because someday some hipster girl is gonna be like OMG you like Wild Nothing or Bully too??
I've long had a similar fantasy where I come across a cute Mars Volta fan that I can impress with my vast collection of bootlegs, can't wait for the day
i side hustle during the summer and cover from time to time. the owner used to own a record shop so it’s been great for these random discoveries
Sitting here listening to Beach House and reading Americana by Don DeLillo. I love this quote: We surrounded ourselves with smoke and loud noise. That's the way we chose to live. I'm prepared to defend it.
so I guess Pretty Years is the last Cymbals Eat Guitars album we'll ever be blessed with because they officially broke up without releasing any kind of notice lead dude has a solo project called Empty Country, which I believe has been mentioned in here in the past. His first solo album is out in February and a new single is below https://www.billboard.com/articles/...s-eat-guitars-breakup-empty-country-interview Empty Country - Marian Spoiler
looking at releases scheduled for the rest of 2019...and unless I'm missing something, it looks like Destroyer in late January and Tame Impala in mid-February will be the next couple albums I'm really excited about so gotta start catching up on things I've put off listening to or missed out on so far, and truly get my 2019 favorites established
Cornelius Suttree https://infinitycat.limitedrun.com/products/654675-diarrhea-planet-live-at-exit-in-blu-ray
man what an incredible production that looks to be, I'd cream my pants if my favorite band had something like it
I'm going to Wreckless Eric at Curiosity Coffee tonight. Don't know much about him but my friend is into him, says he's one of the OGs of the "power pop" genre
I didn't realize he was still around touring. He's got to be nearing 70. Whole Wide World still jams. Should be a fun show.
fuck that guy. he played at my old venue once and kept complaining about the lack of people there. music was lame too
I don't think it has quite enough leg to catch up, but this Kiwanuka late kick for my AOTY is admirable as fuck
