Really liking the songs from the back half of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You that weren't previously released.
Listening to Spotify radio of unknown band in the last few weeks and stumbled upon a nice band. Ovlov. Released an album last year called Buds, solid.
Kind of reminds me of late 90s alternative band on some songs and early BOH on others. Also I never heard of them before I stumbled upon them.
The last couple seconds of A Private Understanding where the guitars kinda fade in and out before it leads into Here Is The Thing My Children is an all-time classic too. I didn't give this album anywhere near the attention it deserved upon release Absolutely love blasting Protomartyr and other post-punk bands knowing everyone else on my hall is listening to shitty country and top 40 nonsense
One of my favorite albums all time. So fucking good, I remember loving it when it came out and you were not as hot on it, but for good reason. I believe you still really held their older catalog in higher esteem.
I can’t even pick one. For me it’s like a favorite child. I’ve noticed this with a lot of bands where I enjoy the entire catalog, generally the album I listen to the least frequently holds the mantle until I play it out of my brain. Then it starts over.

Funny Proto story for all 5 of us fans. I got my flu shot in Early Jan. Dude walks up behind me and has on a Protomartyr t-shirt and shorts. It’s like 20 degrees out so this guy’s insane. So I immediately strike up a conversation with him. We exchange pleasantries about their music and talk about them for 5-10 minutes while waiting, it’s like I talked with this dude before. fast forward to 3 minutes later, they call the dudes name and I almost shit myself. Turns out I went to elementary school with the guy and haven’t seen him in almost 30 years. Just random as fuck. I don’t live in some remote area and we were about an hour or so from where we went to school.

I like it a lot. I feel like from listening to it as a full album the sequencing would be better if chapter 2 and 4 were swapped. I think a review I saw that said it was a like greatest hits album of new songs is pretty accurate
